Squad Battles is the main offline mode in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, here’s our guide on the format, ranks, rewards and some great tips.

FIFA 22 Squad Battles

Squad Battles is FIFA 22 Ultimate Team’s way of earning Weekly Rewards, without having to face the perils of online competitive play. Here’s a breakdown of how the mode works, its ranks and rewards, and some tips on how to succeed.

If you’re not in the mood from the occasionally sweaty worlds of Division Rivals and FUT Champions, then Squad Battles is the mode for you.

In FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, playing offline is also a valuable way of earning packs without having to face a real-life player.

Here’s everything you need to know about Squad Battles in FIFA 22, from the ranks and rewards to some priceless hints and tips.

FIFA 22 Squad Battles format

Salah shooting

Squad Battles pits players against a series of randomly selected teams owned by real FUT user, but controlled in-game by the AI.

Each match earns the player a varying number of points, depending on factors like the result, difficulty, goals scored, clean sheets, and cards.

The number of points accumulated each affects the rank awarded after the Sunday cut-off point.

However, the catch is that you’re limited to just 40 games in a week, broken down into sections of four.

Squad Battle ranks in FIFA 22

Each selection of four squads tends to vary from low-rated teams with next to no chemistry, up to super-squads on 100 chemistry.

On the bright side, if an opponent looks too tough, you can refresh the games to get a new choice of squads.

Doing this permanently removes any unplayed teams, and still eats into the 40 games available in a week.

FIFA 22 Squad Battle ranks and rewards

Squad Battle rewards

The ranks in Squad Battles start with Bronze 3, moving up through to Elite 1 before the top-200 are also given a unique rank. EA drops rewards every Sunday at 12.05 AM PT / 3.05 AM ET / 9.05 AM BST.

Every week, the number of points required to reach each rank varies depending on how many players have taken part in Squad Battles that week.

For example, because the ranks are ever-changing, if on Thursday you are Gold 3, by the time rewards are released you may have slipped down into SIlver 1 or 2.

FIFA 22 Squad Battles tips

Squad Battles in FIFA 22

Squad Battles is different beasts compared to the online player, so it can sometimes be hard to adapt to playing against the AI.

With this in mind, we’ve together some hints and tips to help you climb the Squad Battles ranks.

Patient passing

Where online players tend to drag their players out of position, Squad Battles stick far more rigidly to their formations.

Especially on high difficulties, it can be difficult to fashion openings in the defense as the opposing team happily sits on the edge of the box.

While this can get frustrating, we recommended taking your time with your passing and not forcing the issue. The gaps will appear eventually.

Counter attack

While it’s true that Squad Battles will sit back at 0-0 or when they’re winning, they also love to throw men forward as soon as they go behind.

With this in mind, if you do take the lead, make sure you have a tactical setup that favors counter-attacking.

By looking to hit your opponent on the break, you’ll find yourself with much more space to find that killer pass.

Don’t be afraid to skip tough teams

If you’re not looking to push for the Elite ranks and just want to bag some extra packs, don’t feel obliged to play every team that EA conjures up for you.

Some of the squads can get very difficult, especially when they are on full chemistry and packed with high-rated players.

Make life easier for yourself by only playing the two easier-looking teams, then refreshing the menu to get another selection.

Adjust the difficulty

The amount of points awarded for winning on different difficulties varies greatly – but in any setting, a loss provides next to none.

If you’re taking on a strong team, or just aren’t playing well yourself, there’s no shame in dropping the challenge down to make sure you secure the win.

How to complete FIFA 22 Flashback Chiellini: FUT SBC requirements

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team players have the chance to earn a Flashback Chiellini alongside the well-received Black Friday promo.

Chiellini Flashback SBC FUT 22

The most recent Flashback SBCs in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team are giving players a chance to earn some spectacular high-quality additions. Here’s how to meet the Flashback Chiellini SBC requirements.

Expectations were understandably high before the Ultimate Team Black Friday promotion. As it comes to a close, it’s safe to say most players are satisfied with the items on offer.

Some of the promo cards released during the FUT Black Friday promo are amongst the best in FIFA 22. If you thought Adidas Numbers Up or FUT Heroes were some of the best promos, you’ll be pleased with EA’s latest offer.

With Chiellini, players will receive a centre-back that excels at forcing interceptions thanks to his quick reactions and defensive awareness.

What are FIFA 22 Flashback SBC cards?

Real Madrid FIFA 22

Much as the name suggests, Flashbacks are a throwback to a player’s previous cards in past FIFA games.

Sometimes this may be a carbon copy of an old Team of the Season or a card with stats inspired by a past season.

In the case of Giorgio Chiellini, his Flashback is an ode to his debut season with current club and Italian giants Piemonte Calcio (Juventus) in 2005/2006.

This is Chellini’s first special item to appear in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.

Players have until 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT / 6 PM GMT on Friday, December 5, 2021, to complete the three SBCs required for Flashback Chiellini.

At the time of writing, according to FUTBIN, the full group of SBCs is clocking in at around 115,000 depending on which platform you play on.

Of course, this is only if you have to buy every single player and don’t have fodder to apply to the SBCs.

Is Flashback Chiellini worth it?

FUT Flashback Chiellini Statistics

Despite a drop in overall rating, Flashback Chiellini is far better than his base card in FIFA 22. A massive upgrade in the pace department makes Chiellini more of a meta choice.

Chellini’s pace can hit 90 when equipped with a Shadow Chemistry Style. The increase in mobility paired with incredible defending and physical stats makes Chiellini a formidable defender.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team Flashback cards

Unfortunately, an Italian nationality isn’t the easiest to link in squads. There are very few Italian players who play outside of the Serie A, making this card valuable exclusively to those who use Serie A squads.

Furthermore, the price is somewhat steep for the quality of the card. Considering Milan Skriniar’s Signature Signings card costs 123,000 coins, completing Chellini’s SBC makes little sense. Skriniar is the superior card between the two.

Some may even claim that Kalidou Koulibaly’s base card is superior to Chiellini’s Flashback card. Although this is a bit of a stretch, Chiellini isn’t worth the cost unless you’re looking to upgrade your base Serie A centre-backs.

Expectations were high prior to the Ultimate Team Black Friday promotion. It’s safe to say players are happy with the content EA has provided over this period.

Some of the promo cards released in the past week are amongst the best in FIFA 22. If you thought Rulebreakers or Road to the Knockouts were some of the best promos, guess again.

With Benzema, players will receive a well-rounded striker that can easily torment your opponents’ backline.

This is the fourth iteration of Benzema to appear in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.

Is Flashback Benzema worth it?

Flashback Benzema FUT stats

Although Benzema has one standard and two upgraded cards that boast a higher overall than this Flashback item, players believe this is currently the best version of Benzema available in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.

This is the classic case of an overall not dictating how great an item truly is. The Flashback version alleviates the major issues that held back Benzema’s 91 overall Player of the Month card.

Benzema FUT 22 comparison

Compared to the POTM item, this Flashback Benzema has better pace and agility which minimizes the clunky feeling players had with the former. In addition medium/medium work rates have been adjusted to the favorable high/low.

Players will be happy to learn that this SBC costs even less than Benzema’s POTM. Not only is this Flashback Benzema available at a great price but he feels great in-game. With above-average pace, shooting, and dribbling, Benzema has all of the tools a top striker needs to succeed.

The French nationality is one of the easiest to link in squads. Players aren’t exactly forced to put a La Liga team together. This isn’t a case of completing if you have the fodder. Flashback Benzema is a can’t miss item that you absolutely need to try.
