Icon cards are a staple of the Ultimate Team mode and they’ll be making a return in FIFA 23. Here’s a list of returning Icons and a sneak peek at new Icons that leaks suggest will make their way to the game.
There’s nothing quite as exhilarating as packing an Icon card in Ultimate Team. FIFA 23 players will get the chance to do so once more as the legendary figures should continue to feature in Ultimate Team.
With every FIFA release the list of Icons available continues to grow and FIFA 23 will be no different. EA Sports tend to add around four new Icons per game, and leaks have revealed just who these players could be.
Here’s everything you need to know about Icon cards in FIFA 23.
What are Icon cards in FIFA 23?
Icon cards honor the best players to grace the pitch throughout football history. For starters, there are three versions of each Icon card: base, mid, and prime. Each version is an ode to the player’s career from when they entered the scene to when they achieved global superstardom.
Not only do Icon cards usually boast a high overall rating, but they offer chemistry to players in your squad regardless of league or nation. In addition, they will provide strong links to players who share the same nation, which makes them ideal for building hybrid squads.
FIFA 22 Icons are difficult to find in packs, but it’s not impossible. If luck isn’t on your side, you’ll have an opportunity to secure Icons as EA tend to add Icon SBCs later in the year.
FIFA 23 expected Icon cards
Two Icons were removed from FIFA 22 for various reasons and it’s expected that Diego Maradona and Marc Overmars will also be absent in FIFA 23. Players can expect the same selection of Icon cards from FIFA 22 to carry over to FIFA 23.
EA usually add a few new faces each year. In FIFA 22, players received Wayne Rooney, Iker Casillas, Cafu, and Robin Van Persie. Ultimate Team leaker DonkTrading has suggested that David Villa and Alfredo Di Stefano will be two of the new Icons arriving in FIFA 23.
Keep in mind these are just leaks at the moment and their inclusions are subject to change. With that in mind, here’s a list of the expected Icon cards in FIFA 23:

FIFA 22 FUTTIES: Release date, promo explained, & player leaks
According to FIFA 22 leaks, the FUTTIES promo will be making its way to Ultimate Team shortly along with some of this year’s best cards.
A FIFA 22 leaker has revealed that the FUTTIES promo is returning to Ultimate Team this summer as a victory lap celebrating the game mode’s best cards of the year.
FUTTIES isn’t necessarily the final FIFA 22 Ultimate Team promo, but it will symbolically wrap up the title by celebrating some of the best special cards we’ve seen since launch. Players can expect to get their hands on boosted versions of this year’s best special items as they make their way to packs, SBCs, and Objectives.
FUTTIES provides FIFA 22 players with a rare second chance. You can expect to revisit some of the best promo cards of the year that you may have missed out on the first time around.

FIFA 22 FUTTIES release date
FUTTIES is expected to hit Ultimate Team on Friday, July 8 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST. According to renowned FIFA leaker FutSheriff, FUTTIES will follow Shapeshifters as the next promo that Ultimate Team players could enjoy.
It was previously suggested that Shapeshifters would receive an uncharacteristic Team 4 following Team 3, but as of now, Sheriff claims that the focus will shift to FUTTIES. We’ll let you know when EA officially confirms the promo’s arrival.
FUTTIES FIFA 22 promo explained
The FUTTIES promo is meant to wrap up the Ultimate Team promo calendar by celebrating the best special items of the year. FIFA 22 brought us some truly amazing cards, so here’s a look at how the promo should work.
For starters, Ultimate Team players will have a chance to vote between two previous special cards on any given day. The player who wins the fan vote will not only receive an upgrade but the card will be made available via SBC.
In addition to incredible SBC and Objectives content, some of the best special items from FUT 22 will be re-released. In FIFA 21 there were three batches of re-released FUTTIES teams that appeared in Ultimate Team packs.
FIFA 22 FUTTIES player leaks
FutSherrif has reliably provided details of leaked promo players throughout the entirety of FIFA 22. The leaker’s coverage of FUTTIES should be no different as players are expected to be revealed prior to the July 8 release.
We’ll keep you posted as more information concerning the FIFA 22 FUTTIES promo comes to light. Given that the promo highlights previous special cards that were already in the game, leaks may be difficult to come by, but we’ll update this section accordingly.

It’s been quiet summer so far when it comes to Bundesliga transfers. However, things in Germany can still heat up with the summer transfer window open until September 1.
All eyes will be on Bayern Munich as they look to keep a hold of disgruntled star striker Robert Lewandowski. At this moment, the striker is attempting to force a move to Barcelona, but if he remains, there’s no doubt he’ll be the highest-rated FIFA 23 player in the Bundesliga.
Bayern dominates the predicted list of top ten Bundesliga players in FIFA 23. The illustrious German club won ten Bundesliga titles in a row and they’re the clear powerhouse option to pick up an eleventh straight title in 2023.
Elsewhere, Filip Kostic enjoyed a fantastic season in which Frankfurt secured a Europa League trophy. FIFA 22 delivered a whopping ten separate special Christopher Nkunku cards and the midfielder’s performances should see him rise to 84 or 85 in FIFA 23.

The Bundesliga is dominated by Bayern Munich players when it comes to landing a player in the top 10. Nonetheless, it’s still fascinating to see how EA upgrades and downgrades players from across Germany with each new title. Ones to Watch is always one of the most interesting and exciting promos in any FIFA, mainly because it tends to be the very first major event of the year. FIFA 23 will be no exception, as EA look to shine the spotlight on the biggest transfers of the summer.
FIFA 22 OTW was arguably the biggest ever, as both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo switched clubs in a crazy end to the transfer window. While FIFA 23 OTW is unlikely to have as many groundbreaking signings to choose from, some of the game’s highest-rated players have been on the move.

Is there a FIFA 23 Ones to Watch start date?
EA are yet to confirm when FIFA 23 Ones to Watch will kick off, but we can look at previous years to gain a pretty good idea.
Last year, OTW got underway on October 1, the same day as FIFA 22’s worldwide release. With this in mind, we’d expect FIFA 23 OTW to begin on Friday, September 30, 2022.
This is the expected FIFA 23 release date based on various leaks and the usual schedule, but we’ll add new information to this section once it’s available.
FIFA 23 Ones to Watch explained
FIFA 23 OTW will award special live cards to players who have recently moved to a new club. These dynamic items will go up in rating depending on how well the player performs for their club in real life.
Each time a OTW star is handed a TOTW after a top display in their domestic league, the card will increase in rating and stats to match the most recent one.
For example, in FIFA 22, Dayot Upamecano started out at an 82-rated card after his move to Bayern Munich. But, by the end of the year, he was 87-rated and one of the best center-backs that the Bundesliga had to offer.
They will also receive an extra +1 boost for winning a certain number of matches after the promo begins. Last year, the threshold was five wins out of 10 games after October 2.
We’ll update this section with more specific information once EA officially announces the promo.
