New leaks claim FIFA 23 will have crossplay & two World Cups
Fans have reason to get excited as new leaks suggest FIFA 23 is set to introduce cross-play to the franchise as well as shine a light on the upcoming World Cup with new content and gameplay.
For a few years now FIFA players have been begging the devs to introduce a cross-play feature to the franchise. With more and more games adopting the well-liked feature, FIFA fans were disappointed to see FIFA 22 fail to produce it once again.
It looks like their wishes may be answered with the arrival of FIFA 23 as a leaker is reporting that the upcoming game could deliver the sought-after cross-play feature along with World Cup content.
Will FIFA 23 have cross-play?
Early repots are suggesting that FIFA 23 will have cross-play when the game releases in Fall 2022. Renowned leaker Tom Henderson has revealed that “For the first time in the franchise’s history, players across PC, PlayStation and Xbox devices will be able to play together.”
This is exciting news for fans of the franchise as cross-play was at the top of many wishlists. The report also touches on rumors that the title may be free-to-play but this is just speculation for the moment until additional details come to light.
Although cross-play is a big win, Henderson suggests that EA’s licensing deal with FIFA is under strain which puts future games following FIFA 23 in doubt. For now, players can breathe a sigh of relief as they’ll finally be able to play with friends on all platforms.
FIFA 23 World Cup content
In addition to the inclusion of cross-play, Henderson’s report also includes information concerning the World Cup in FIFA 23. With a rare Winter World Cup set to take place in Qatar in 2022, FIFA 23 players will get fresh World Cup content to dissect in-game.
We currently don’t know what this World Cup content will entail but Henderson’s comments speak of FIFA 23’s diversity “both the men’s and women’s World Cups, with EA expanding its licensing partnership across all the major leagues to drive and build a single FIFA experience that brings males and females together.”
