FIFA 23 devs address nerfs after players unearth accidental Ultimate Team changes
A major nerfing issue unearthed by FIFA 23 players rocked the Ultimate Team community at the start of the year. In response to the accusations, the devs issued a fix for the accidental nerfs.
Ultimate Team players have long since been at odds with EA Sports, and that hasn’t changed with FIFA 23. FIFA 23 players revealed major findings that backed the idea that EA had been nerfing certain Ultimate Team cards.
Obviously, this would be a huge issue, seeing as the Ultimate Team transfer market and the value of promo cards are tied to their in-game ability.
It all started when one player realized that Centurions Ibrahimovic’s in-game stats were massively nerfed, which resulted in a decrease in value amounting to 1 million coins. Players quickly questioned if this same strategy had been used on other promo cards.
Only a few days following the discovery, EA issued a statement indicating that “an unintended issue lowered some Attributes for 4 Player Items in FUT.”
FIFA 23 devs reveal accidental nerfs
While EA explained that nerfs to the above cards were accidental, FIFA 23 players were split on the response.
Some were pleased with the open communication between the devs and the community: “Insane that these are issues but we appreciate the honest communication and swift fixes. Keep it up.”
Others veered in a different direction, accusing the devs of secretly nerfing cards all along.
As one player put it, “This really doesn’t look good for you considering people have suspected you of doing this secretly for YEARS and now it’s clear you’ve accidentally showed us the actual stats of some players…”
Players questioned why Ibrahimovic was not included in the cards listed above. However, EA issued an initial statement rectifying the issue before revealing that other cards had also been affected.
