Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Are Vincent Valentine & Cid Highwind playable?

The release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is just around the corner, and that’s why fans of the franchise are wondering if Vincent Valentine or Cid Highwind will be playable characters in this new remake. Here’s whether you’ll be able to play as Vincent Valentine or Cid Highwind in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth continues the story of the Remake project, produced by Yoshinori Kitase and directed by Naoki Hamaguchi. Rebirth features an open world with many activities to tackle and more characters to play with.

Red XIII can now be used after its appearance in FF7 Remake, but a recent trailer revealed that other fan favorites will take the stage as well, including the mysterious Vincent Valentine and VII’s airship pilot, Cid Highwind.

Here’s whether Cid and Vincent will be playable in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Can you play as Vincent Valentine & Cid Highwind in FF7 Rebirth?

No, the game’s director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that neither Vincent nor Cid will be playable in FF7 Rebirth.

According to a recent interview with IGN, Hamaguchi stated: “If we used up all of the playable characters in the second part, then we would lose out on quite a lot of new surprises and new experiences for the player in the third game.”

During the interview about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Hamaguchi confirmed that “both Cid and Vincent are accompanying the party on their journey and they do help out, but they aren’t actually featuring in battle as guest characters. So they’re not really going to be involved in your fight.”

“They’re going to appear in various parts of the story and scenarios where they play a role or they’ll help you out or assist you in some way, but they’re not actually fighting as guest characters in that sense,” continued Hamaguchi.
