Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Dynamic Difficulty explained: Should you choose it?
Square EnixFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth lets players tailor their experience by adjusting the difficulty settings, but what is the new Dynmaic option? Here’s everything you need to know about Dynamic Difficulty in FF7 Rebirth and whether you should choose it.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has finally arrived, continuing the journey of Cloud and his party as they battle Sephiroth. If you’re just starting your journey, you’ll quickly realize that the sequel is much bigger than 2020’s Remake, with plenty of unique regions to explore.
This also means there are a ton of different quests to track down, but some are designed to really put your combat skills to the test. Luckily, the Dynamic Difficulty option gives players a new way to customize their experience to suit their preferences.
Here’s everything you need to know about Dynamic Difficulty in FF7 Rebirth.
What is FF7 Rebirth Dynamic Difficulty?
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Dynamic Difficulty makes all enemies scale to the same skill level as you, no matter which quest or area you’re tackling.
This means that you don’t have to worry about grinding levels to meet any requirements or make certain objectives easier. On the other hand, it also makes backtracking to early regions more of a challenge as all of the foes will have raised their game to match you.
With the more traditional difficulty settings, each mission and encounter has a predetermined skill level, so your characters can easily find themselves under or over-leveled. But, with Dynamic Difficulty, every single fight is evenly matched in FF7 Rebirth.
Should you choose Dynamic Difficulty in FF7 Rebirth?
You should select Dynamic Difficulty in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth if you plan on completing most if not all of the side objectives on your first playthrough. This means you won’t find yourself severely over-leveled and make fights that should be challenging too easy.
However, if you’re someone who doesn’t mind breezing through key battles that should be difficult in the name of trophy hunting, then Dynamic Difficulty might not be the right option, as late-game challenges will still be equally difficult despite all your hard work.
On the other hand, if you just want to focus on the story, then the regular difficulty options should be just fine, as the levels of main missions increase fairly consistently with how much XP they reward.
The good news is, FF7 Rebirth lets you change the difficulty at any time from the settings menu, so you can experiment until you find the option that best suits you.
