Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

First details on Black Ops Cold War Fireteam maps revealed

Published

on

One of the new modes coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is Fireteam.

Treyarch announced that they were bringing a large multi-team mode for the MP experience. The new mode, Fireteam: Dirty Bomb, is available to try during Weekend 2 of the Beta, which begins October 15.

As part of a blog post detailing how the new mode works, Treyarch only mentioned that there will be two large scale maps to try out for Fireteam. No specific information on the maps were revealed.

Now, an Activision Support article has revealed the names and descriptions of the two Fireteam maps coming in the Beta.

The maps are called ‘Ruka’ and ‘Alpine.’

Here’s the description of the two maps on the Activision Support site:

  • Ruka (Fireteam) – The essence of Ruka is all about the feeling of running through a dense forest, darting between trees, and using the natural elements as cover and engagement opportunities. On top of that, we wanted to make sure there were good destinations mixed in, so you will find that the Spetsnaz GRU training grounds offer that up, in the form of the obstacle course, cabins, hidden bunkers, etc – it was all about balancing the natural with the man-made elements across the very expansive play space. Make no mistake, Ruka is very large and packed with dangers and opportunities, but we built it to be a sandbox of fun and discovery.
  • Alpine (Fireteam) – Alpine is the culmination of a few ideas – it be awesome to build a map on the side of a mountain, and it would be pretty awesome to fight in and around ski slopes, both things we had never explored together. The end result after combining these and lots and lots of playtesting, is a very fun, very unique large map that offers players the opportunities for them to pick their own adventure when they hit the ground. Want high risk verse reward? Check – try crossing, or running up the ski slopes/lanes, you might get sniped. Want to be a CQB master? Check – own the forested sections using the natural elements. Or do you want to roam between medium and long range? We got you, just rotate and roam the man-made structures spread out across the mountain side. Bottom line is that Alpine offers players a lot of ways to play and approach the map – they are in command, and to us, that is the magic sauce.

Fireteam: Dirty Bomb will consist of 10 teams of 4 players. This specific variation of Fireteam features players competing to secure uranium to deposit into locations to detonate bombs. Detonating bombs helps teams win the game. More information on the Fireteam mode can be found here.

Fireteam will be added during Weekend 2 of the Beta, which begins October 15. On October 15, the beta will be live in preorder early access on Xbox One & PC and open beta on PS4. Weekend 2 ends Monday, October 19.

Stay tuned for more information on Fireteam mode as we get closer to Weekend 2.

Activision, Treyarch, and Beenox have announced new details on the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

The team has released a new trailer, which showcases footage captured on the PC version of the game, alongside revealing some new gameplay moments for fans.

Beenox has also unveiled the minimum & recommended specs for the PC version of the game, and more information on the PC version’s feature set.

Expansive Customization Options

Developer Beenox worked closely with Treyarch and all other studios to bring over 200 individual settings to fine tune on the PC version of Black Ops Cold War, from keybindings and the ability to play on a controller to graphics, audio, and interface sliders and toggles.

Those who played the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta already experienced a wide selection of the game’s customization features; expect all those and more come launch.

4K Graphics and Uncapped Framerate

Have a machine capable of running games in 4K? What about one that can crank the FPS well into the triple digits? If your machine can do either of these – or both – know that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be able to run both in 4K and with an uncapped framerate.

RTX Shadows and Ambient Occlusion

Powered by NVIDIA GeForce RTX, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will feature a more lifelike experience thanks to RTX Shadows and Ambient Occlusion, which provides more photo-realistic shadows that will help further immerse you within the game’s world.

NVIDIA DLSS and Reflex Technology

Keeping up with the latest trends in rendering and latency developments, Black Ops Cold War will include both NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and Reflex Technology.

Powered by artificial intelligence, 2nd Generation DLSS redefines real-time rendering by using AI to construct sharp, hi-fidelity images all while rendering fewer pixels. And with three available options – Quality, Balanced, and Performance – you’ll be able to fine-tune this process to fit your gaming needs.

NVIDIA Reflex is the other critical innovation that is tailored specifically for highly competitive players who want to play on the lowest latency possible. In Black Ops Cold War, NVIDIA Reflex will aid pros or pros-to-be in ensuring there is as little delay between their click or press and what happens on their screen as possible.

Ultrawide and Multi-Monitor Support

Do you play at a high aspect ratio or with multiple monitors? Black Ops Cold War won’t limit you to just one monitor. Prepare to play at all conceivable angles, whether that be on an ultrawide monitor or on multiple displays.

Black Ops Cold War scorestreaks reportedly leaked

Published

on

It looks like the scorestreaks available in Black Ops Cold War have apparently leaked.

The game’s beta offered fans a first look at just some of the new streaks that Treyarch has been working on, but now new images, from what appears to be a PC build, have leaked all the options available. It’s not clear when this build or how old this build it, so the streaks and icons could change.

There isn’t images of each streak individually, but this image does show the icons for all of them. We’ve removed image to avoid DMCAs. Again, this is not 100% confirmed as the final build, but here’s the list:

  • Incendiary Bow
  • RC-XD
  • Armor
  • Spy Plane
  • Counter Spy Plane
  • Flamethrower
  • Care Package
  • Sentry Turret
  • Death Machine
  • Cruise Missile
  • Artillery
  • Hand Canon
  • Napalm Strike
  • Air Patrol
  • War Machine
  • Strafe Run
  • H.A.R.P.
  • Attack Helicopter
  • Chopper Gunner
  • VTOL Escort
  • Gunship

The icons, in the images shown across social media, reveal what looks to be an AC-130 variation, advanced UAV, annihilator pistol, and more options for the game.

It’s not 100% clear yet as to how users have gotten access to the game, or if this is an internal leak from the final build of the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War officially launches on Friday, November 13 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

We’re expecting more information about the game to come as the launch date approaches. The potential for leaks also increases as we get closer to the date, with some people getting early copies illegally.

Stay tuned for the latest news.
