First Gentlemen’s Agreements in Black Ops Cold War accidentally leaked by Clayster

Professional Call of Duty players have already arranged a set of Gentleman’s Agreements for Black Ops Cold War, revealed early inadvertently on Clayster’s stream.

As Call of Duty is generally a casual experience, specific rulesets are required for the playing competitively. Although there are some official restrictions, Gentlemen’s Agreements (GAs) are also employed between pro players.

These generally affect various weapons, perks and equipment that pro players can use in competitive matches and scrims. Certain weapons and attachments might be prohibited or only allowed in set limited numbers per team.

GAs often spark controversy, as they’re not in the official ruleset, and so the only thing stopping a player reneging on them is admonishment from fellow pro players.

Now we know the first set of GAs for Black Ops Cold War thanks to Clayster. While clicking around during his stream, he ended up accidentally opening the tab containing the list of the following GAs:

  • No Gearhead
  • Law Breaker no overkill
  • 2 Trophy Systems
  • 2 Assault Packs but can’t use them
  • 1 smoke grenade in respawn modes, 2 in Search and Destroy
  • No tac rifles
  • No Thermal
  • No streaks

Gearhead reduces the cooldown time for Field Upgrades and Law Breaker lets the players use multiple perks with access to any weapon class. The latter has been marked with “No Overkill”, so that players cannot run two primary weapons.

The list makes it clear that they’ve prohibited a few things that would have given players a huge advantage over each other. It’s understandable why they would want to leave these out of the competitive games. This includes limiting the smoke grenade use to just one per match.

Since the game just released, it’s very likely that this list will become updated. The rules are determined by the way the games play out so we will most probably see a few changes to the Gentlemen’s Agreements as the year progresses.
