Fortnite 16.40 patch notes: Marksman Six exotic weapon, The Dub vaulted
It’s a new week in Fortnite Season 6, and Epic Games have dropped a brand-new update for the popular battle royale game on PS5, PS4 Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, including a new Exotic Marksman Six Shooter weapon.
Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 7 is just a few weeks away now, but Epic Games continue to drop bi-weekly updates for the game in an attempt to keep things feeling fresh.
Tuesday, May 11 sees the fifth major update of the season, and introduces a new Exotic weapon to the loot pool, along with a brand-new POI located in the southwest of the map.
On top of that, Epic have been hard at work addressing bugs and glitches that have been affecting the game, so there’s plenty to sink your teeth into when you download this update. Take a look at the full Fortnite v16.40 update patch notes below.
Fortnite v16.40 patch notes
Exotic Marksman Six Shooter
A new weapon is the headline addition to Fortnite with the 16.40 update, with the exotic Marksman Six Shooter pistol making its debut in-game.
The “fast-firing sidearm” deals 24 damage-per-shot with a magazine size of six. While it may not hold many bullets, the reload time of 2.1 seconds makes the magazine size less important, with Medium bullets the ammo of choice.

How players can get their hands on this pistol isn’t confirmed just yet, but it’s likely you’ll need to purchase it from an NPC like the other exotic weapons.
The Dub shotgun vaulted
While Epic Games giveth, they also taketh away. The introduction of the Marksman Six exotic means they’ve decided to take The Dub shotgun out of rotation, storing it away in the game’s vault for the time being.
Of course, vaulted weapons can always return in the future, so this may not be the last we see of The Dub.
Wild Week 2
The second Wild Week of Season 6 is officially on its way, with Epic using a fish emoji on Twitter to tease the theme of this one.
What this week will entail remains a secret, but we won’t have long to wait to find out, as it kicks off on May 13.
