As Fortnite Season 8 draws to a close, the 18.40 update sees the highly-anticipated Naruto crossover, brings back B.R.U.T.E.S., Shopping Carts, and another Cube Town evolution. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite’s 18.40 update.

After another season full of exciting crossovers and new weapons, Season 9 is set to arrive on December 6. But Epic Games aren’t finished adding content to Season 8 yet, with the 18.40 patch notes finally bringing the Naruto crossover and more.

Here’s everything included in Fortnite Season 8’s 18.40 update patch notes, including Naruto, Mechs, and more.

Naruto x Fortnite crossover: Skins, Kunai weapon, more

It’s been leaked since Season 7 that Fortnite would crossover with popular anime show Naruto: Shippuden, and it’s finally arrived with the 18.40 update.

Naruto and the rest of Team 7 (Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Kakashi Hatake) have arrived on the island as purchasable skins for the official Fortnite x Naruto crossover.

The store is chock-full of Naruto cosmetics to purchase, and you can even get your hands on the Paper Bomb Kunai weapon. You’ll be able to find it in Chests and Loot Llamas or purchase it from Kakashi Hatake with Gold Bars.

Fortnite’s Creative Hub has been given a Naruto overhaul too, becoming Hidden Leaf Village! You can explore iconic locations from the show such as Hokage Residences, and Ichiraku, but you’ll need to visit Naruto himself to see the Hidden Leaf Village Adventure Map.

There will also be Naruto-themed challenges to complete, which will unlock new areas such as the Final Valley and the Chunin Exam arena.

B.R.U.T.E. Mech returns in Fortnite 18.40

Anyone who played Fortnite during Chapter 1 will remember the B.R.U.T.E.S. – massive player-controlled mechs that dominated Season X. The B.R.U.T.E.S. have now returned in Chapter 2, Season 8, but without the unstoppable power.

The Mech is now called Salvaged B.R.U.T.E., which has a “stripped down armor hull with no overshield, making it easier for clever opponents to counter and dismantle.” But, Epic Games revealed that it “comes battle-ready with combat effectiveness tailored for taking on wave after wave of Cube Monsters.”

To get a B.R.U.TE., you’ll need to spend Gold Bars at Salvaged B.R.U.T.E. Stations. Epic said you’ll need to spend “lots of Bars” to fund them, and once they’re fully funded, “they’ll drop in Salvaged B.R.U.T.E.s available to Loopers in their matches.”

Cube Town Pyramid

Popular data miner HYPEX leaked that the Convergence, or Cube Town, would turn into a Pyramid – and it’s finally happened in the 18.40 update.

Four columns converged to form a pyramid shape over Cube Town, with the Cube Queen hovering over the tip. It’s not a true pyramid, but Cube Town will likely keep evolving as we draw to the end of the season, which some believe will mark the end of Chapter 2.

Shopping Cart unvaulted

A classic item from Fortnite Chapter 1 has been unvaulted in Season 8 – the Shopping Cart.

The Shopping Cart was Fortnite’s first ‘vehicle,’ where one player would push, and the other player could hop inside to use weapons and items. Plus, you could pick up some great speed if you manage to find a steep hill. These can now be found all over the Season 8 map.

Fortnite 18.40 major bug fixes

  • Grapplers have returned to Team Rumble and Battle Lab.
  • Collection book entries can now be viewed when using Performance Mode.
  • Cars will no longer vanish or move when entering or exiting.

And that’s all of the major changes in Fortnite’s 18.40 update! You can also check out all of the NPC locations in Season 8.

The Rock teases major Fortnite role ahead of Chapter 3

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has teased his arrival in Fortnite ahead of the launch of Chapter 3 of the battle royale.

With Fortnite Season 8 coming to an end, popular celebrity Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has teased his arrival to the battle royale in a new video ahead of the Chapter 3 launch.

Fortnite is known for its various crossovers, as we’ve seen the arrival of characters like Nick Fury and Naruto, as well as some popular real-life figures like Lebron James and Ariana Grande.

Now, it seems that Epic Games might be planning to bring in another major celebrity to the battle royale, as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson appears to be teasing his arrival in Fortnite.

The Rock set to play Fortnite’s The Foundation

In a video posted on Twitter, The Rock was showcasing his energy drink, ZOA. However, what caught the attention of Fortnite fans was Johnson name-dropping The Foundation NPC.

This is a character who is the leader of a group known as the ‘The Seven,’ that have been in the game since Chapter 1 and were also a part of the Fortnite x Batman crossover comic book.

The Rock’s fridge contained The Foundation’s helmet in plain view. He also used some key Fortnite terms like Zero Point, Higher Ground, and Foundation.

Dwayne Johnson’s appearance in Fortnite has been teased before, and it seems that this crossover is finally happening.

Ever since this tweet went live, Fortnite fans have been speculating about whether or not this confirms The Rock’s arrival in the game. While some players are excited, others are a bit disappointed that The Foundation is a crossover character.

“I low-key wish The Foundation wasn’t The Rock,” tweeted one user. “I wanted him to be an original character.”

Although extremely likely, it’s worth keeping in mind that Dwayne Johnson hasn’t officially confirmed his arrival in Fortnite just yet.

It’s entirely possible that this could just be part of a joke. Hopefully, we’ll get an official announcement from him or Epic Games soon enough, and we’ll be sure to update you when that happens.

Leaked Fortnite Chapter 3 trailer gives first look at new map

A teaser trailer for Fortnite Chapter 3 has been leaked through TikTok, giving players a first look at the new map.

It appears that Epic Games has accidentally added a Chapter 3 trailer to TikTok early, which gives us a look at the new map.

Fortnite is set to receive one of its largest updates yet with Chapter 3 in December. This will start a brand-new storyline, introduce plenty of new mechanics and NPCs, and of course, bring a new map.

The End event isn’t set to begin until Saturday, December 4, but it appears that Epic Games accidentally added the trailer to TikTok early. Although now removed, it’s still out in the wild, giving the first look at the Chapter 3 map.

Of course, If you don’t want spoilers for The End event and Chapter 3 that follows, don’t read on any further.

Now onto the trailer.

In this short teaser trailer, we can see Agent Jonesy is washed out to sea off the coast of the Chapter 2 island. We then see the island completely flip over, revealing the Chapter 3 map on the other side.

This is presumably after The End event following the Cube Queen’s defeat. The Tsunami that hits Jonesy will likely mark the beginning of the downtime, but we’ll need to wait until the event to know for sure.

Some believe that this trailer teases that they’re bringing back the Chapter 1 map. We can’t see enough of it to confirm, but the desert biome spotted has led to speculation that Paradise Palms will make a return.

There has been some debate over whether this trailer is real, but it appears to be legit. Known leaker iFireMonkey confirmed that “the video IS real,” and they’ve used the TikTok account as a source before.

Leakers say they’ve been asked not to leak any Chapter 3 details during downtime between seasons, so we’re unlikely to know much more about the new map ahead of its arrival.

But, both Spider-Man and Matrix skins have been leaked for the new season, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has all but confirmed that he will be playing The Foundation character.

Epic Games have added the Marvel character Nick Fury as a new skin in Fortnite, and here’s everything you need to know about the new S.H.I.E.L.D Set, including the price.

Fortnite has done multiple collaborations with Marvel in the past, with Carnage and Venom joining in Season 8, and the Season 4 Battle Pass consisting of superheroes. Spider-Man is also rumored to be arriving soon.

Epic Games aren’t done with Marvel characters just as Nick Fury has been added as a brand-new skin for players to unlock in Fortnite, complete with his own back bling, glider, and bundle.

Here’s how you can add these to your inventory.

Fortnite S.H.I.E.L.D. Set Items

Nick Fury is the director of the organization S.H.I.E.L.D and works closely with the Avengers. Epic Games added his outfit to the Fortnite Item Shop on November 26, and you can also get the S.H.I.E.L.D Set.

Here’s everything in the S.H.I.E.L.D Set:

  • Nick Fury outfit
  • F.I.E.L.D Pack Back Bling
  • Director’s Scythe Pickaxe
  • First-Strike Infiltration Glider
  • Quinjets in Flight Loading Screen

Fury has played a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, and his Fortnite skin is based on his appearance in those. The Back Bling is included with the outfit, but you’ll have to purchase the Pickaxe and Glider separately.

Nick Fury’s outfit and Back Bling bundle cost 1,500 V-Bucks while the Glider and Pickaxe cost 800 V-Bucks each. Alternatively, you could spring for the whole S.H.I.E.L.D set for just 2,000 V-Bucks.

This costs the same as a Legendary skin includes all of these items, making it one of the cheapest bundles in the game. You can then equip the Nick Fury outfit as you battle Sideways Cube Monsters.

This bundle is an exciting addition for both Marvel and Fortnite fans. Epic Games might introduce even more crossovers before Season 8 ends, as there are other popular franchises that they can collaborate with.
