Fortnite: Destroy all Nutcracker Statues in Operation Snowdown

Here’s a guide on how to complete the Nutcracker challenge for Fortnite’s 2020 Operation Snowdown.

Published

on

Fortnite’s Operation Snowdown update continues with another challenge for players.

As part of the Operation Snowdown event, players get daily challenges to get free cosmetic rewards. Today we’ll be destroying hidden Nutcracker Statues across the map.

The Statues will be scattered around the map in several POI’s, including the Snowmando Outposts that were added recently with the Operation update.

You can see all the SNowmand Outpost locations in the handy map, provided below. Please note that Snowmando Posts do not spawn in every spot in each game of Team Rumble, so you should stick to consistent POI’s first to get these challenges done fast.

The locations for the Nutcrackers are as follows:

  • South of Holly Hedges
  • East of Slurpy Swamp
  • South of Catty Corner ( New Snowmando Post)
  • South of Steamy Stacks (Near the stream)
  • West of Pleasant Park

All of the POI’s will have two or three nutcrackers to break, so be vigilant while hunting all of them down. The best strategy is to land south of Holly Hedges and rotate around the map for the rest of the nutcrackers.

Finding a vehicle will make this process much faster, just make sure to avoid enemies when possible. Ideally, you can drop into a game of Team Rumble to do this challenge fast since you’ll have teammates.

When you finish, you’ll be rewarded with the exclusive and adorable Snowmando back bling. You’ll unlock the accompanying skin after the event on January 5, 2020.

For additional event guides, be sure to stay tuned as more unlock. If you haven’t located all of the Holiday Tree Locations, you can do that by clicking here.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 is nearing its halfway point, with the 21.20 update set to add even more content to the game. Here’s everything we know so far, including when to expect the downtime, Indiana Jones’ arrival, and map changes.

Fortnite shows no sign of slowing down with Chapter 3 Season 3 adding even more to the blockbuster battle royale such as the new Ripsaw Launcher and Grapple Glove. The 21.10 update brought Darth Vader to the island and added the Super Styles, and the upcoming 21.20 update brings even more to the battle royale.

Here are the early patch notes for Fortnite’s 21.20 update, including the server downtime, the Indiana Jones skin, bug fixes, and map changes.

Fortnite 21.20 update release date & downtime

Fortnite’s 21.20 update is set to give live on July 6, with downtime beginning at around 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST and matchmaking disabled 30 minutes before.

Although the Fortnite Competitive Twitter account teased changes for July 5, leaker Shiina pointed out that Fortnite changed the Cash Cup dates from July 6 to July 5 due to “expected game updates around the same time.” They believe this “basically confirms the update will drop on July 6.”

The downtime usually lasts for a couple of hours, and then you can launch the game and experience all of the new content on offer.

Indiana Jones arrives in Fortnite 21.20 update

Each Fortnite season comes with a bonus skin that Battle Pass owners can unlock a few weeks in, and Season 3’s 21.20 update finally brings Indiana Jones.

Although the skin isn’t set to arrive until July 7, the day after the update, Epic sometimes unlock the skin early — we’ll just need to wait and see.

Once the Indiana Jones Battle Pass page is unlocked, Fortnite players can start completing challenges to unlock the Harrison Ford skin and associated cosmetics.

Fortnite 21.20 map changes

The Fortnite Competitive Twitter account has confirmed that the Tumbledown Temple landmark will undergo “significant changes” with the 21.20 update.

While some expect the temple to get an Indiana Jones-themed makeover, it’s also possible that the Reality Tree will infect the area, giving the POI a different theme each match.

Fortnite No Sweat Summer challenges

Epic Games added the Island Hopper Creative Quests as part of the No Sweat Summer event and suggested that more challenges are still to come.

At the end of the Island Hopper blog post, Epic teased: “Want more summer vibes? No sweat, more summer is coming. Stay tuned for more.”

The Island Hopper Quests are only live until July 6, so it sounds like there will be even more challenges to complete after they conclude.

Fortnite 21.20 update bug fixes

Thanks to Epic Games’ Trello board of Fortnite Community Issues, we can see the major bug fixes that are set to arrive in the 21.20 update.

  • Battle Royale: Sapling Icon can be misplaced on the Map/Minimap
    • Players may see their Sapling Icon out in the ocean or otherwise off of the actual map and not anywhere near where they had planted it.
  • Creative: Tracker Device
    • We’re aware of an issue that is causing the tracker device to not update correctly for teams when multiple teams are able to use it.

How to spectate in Fortnite Chapter 3

Watching over players can be educational or down-right hilarious, but how do you spectate in Fortnite Chapter 3?

Published

on

Spectating other players in Fortnite can be a great way to learn more about the game by watching how better opponents play, or simply good fun to see what others get up to. If you’d like to watch somebody else’s gameplay, here’s everything you need to know about how to spectate in Fortnite.

For many, the sole reason to jump onto Fortnite is to leap out of the Battle Bus, hurtle towards the map below, and eliminate enemies for a Victory Royale. For some though, it’s just as fun to watch other people play, whether to learn or just for some laughs.

While Epic Games keep adding new content to the game with every seasonal patch, one thing that disappeared was the ability to watch anyone’s game at any time.

While there are now some restrictions on who you can spectate, and when, there are still ways to settle back and observe matches. Here’s everything you need to know about spectating in Fortnite Chapter 3.

How to spectate friends in Fortnite Chapter 3

To spectate your friends in Fortnite, you’ll need to join their lobby, as the ‘Watch Game’ feature is no longer available.

Once you’ve joined your friend’s lobby, you’ll have to wait for 30 seconds after their match has started before you can see what they’re up to. This delay means you won’t see them jump out of the Battle Bus or land on the ground, but you should arrive just in time to see them engage opponents.

Can I spectate strangers in Fortnite Chapter 3?

Unfortunately, the only way to spectate strangers in Fortnite Chapter 3 is to watch players who eliminate you from a match.

When an enemy takes you down, you’ll immediately be shown your final placement, along with a list of options to start a new match or head back to the pre-game lobby. The game will also show you what your opponent is up to after they killed you, and you can watch the match all the way to the end via this method.

You’ll not be able to watch strangers from the pre-game lobby though, as the ‘Watch Game’ feature has been removed from the game entirely.

Why was Fortnite’s spectate feature removed?

While Epic Games didn’t give any details on the reason why they removed it, popular opinion suggests that stream sniping was the main reason it got axed.

Players would enlist friends to watch ongoing matches and call out enemy locations, making it easy for teams to essentially cheat their way to a victory.

Of course, it’s still possible to stream snipe opponents who are broadcasting their gameplay on streaming sites like Twitch or YouTube, but the delay means it isn’t quite as effective as this method.

If watching other players has you wondering how good you are, make sure to check out the average Fortnite kill/death ratio to see how you stack up.
