XP in Fortnite

Epic Games responded to Fortnite Season 8 complaints by introducing some major changes to the XP gains in the battle royale’s Shared (NPC) Quest rewards.

Fortnite Season 8 brought a ton of cool new content for fans to enjoy, including the new Sideways weapons, Punchcard Quests, and brand-new skins like Venom and Carnage.

Epic Games made it so that players would gain a consistent amount throughout the season, but this resulted in some fans having to work harder to level up than others. Now, the devs have responded to those complaints.

In late September, Epic Games reassured fans that they were aware of these complaints and promised to make a few changes to fix the XP issues in Fortnite Season 8.

Epic Games have changed the values for XP gains from Shared Quests from Common (2,500 XP) increasing to Legendary (3,750 XP).

Here are all the Fortnite XP update changes:

  • Common: 2,500 XP
  • Uncommon: 2,650 XP
  • Rare: 2,750 XP
  • Epic: 2,900 XP
  • Legendary: 3,750 XP

They’ve updated the Daily Punchcard missions as well, and these changes have caught the attention of the Fortnite community. Many fans are praising the improvements to XP in Season 8.

“Pretty solid changes,” tweeted one fan. “At their peak, quick challenges used to give 2.2k XP x 3 challenges per game. Now you can pick up as many challenges as you like AND the lowest stage offers 300XP more than peak XP quick challenges.”

We’ll see if Epic Games add any more XP improvements to Season 8. For more Fortnite, check out our article on the Jimmy Neutron skin potentially coming in Fortnite Season 8.

Apex Legends & Fortnite Twitch viewership takes major hit as Fall Guys surges

The rise of Fall Guys since going free-to-play has seemingly led to a drop in Twitch viewers for both Fortnite and Apex Legends.

Fall Guys has seen a massive bump in popularity since going free to play, so much so that it appears to have damaged rival battle royales Apex Legends and Fortnite’s popularity on Twitch.

For a few glorious months after its launch in 2020, Fall Guys was the hottest property in gaming. Millions of players took pleasure in dragging their clumsy jellybeans through outrageous levels in an attempt to be the last bean standing.

Despite being the most-downloaded PS Plus game of all time, Fall Guys failed to find the staying power that other battle royales like Warzone enjoyed. However, after going free-to-play and releasing on Switch and Xbox, the game saw its player base grow to over 20 million.

The resurgence of Fall Guys appears to have impacted its competitors too, with both Apex Legends and Fortnite taking a significant hit in Twitch viewership.

Fall Guys characters running through course

After going free-to-play in June, the latest Twitch figures show just how big a comeback Fall Guys has made. At the time of writing in July 2022, Fall Guys is the sixth most-viewed game on the platform with an average of 88,100 viewers.

This is a massive 22% increase from the previous week, placing Mediatonic’s quirky title alongside heavy hitters like Counter-Strike: GO and Escape from Tarkov.

What’s even more interesting is the effect that Fall Guys’ success has had on its rivals. Fortnite and Apex Legends have slipped behind Fall Guys with drops of 7.4% and 12.7% respectively, with Apex barely clinging on to a spot in the top 10.

Call of Duty: Warzone has also taken a significant dip, losing 16.2% of its Twitch audience in the last week.

Of course, it’s tough to tell if the drops seen by rival battle royales were directly caused by people tuning in to Fall Guys instead, but it’s definitely interesting to see such a drastic change in figures just after the game went F2P.

We’ll have to wait and see if Fall Guys can keep players and viewers on board this time around, but with Apex Legends Season 14 and Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 coming soon, Mediatonic has their work cut out for them.

Secret door at shuffled shrines in fortnite

The brand-new Shuffled Shrines POI has appeared with the 21.20 update and features an Indiana Jones-style secret room to investigate. You’ll need to find it and get inside to complete the Indy Quests, so here’s how.

Fortnite players have been desperate to finally unlock the Indiana Jones Battle Pass skin, and it finally went live with the 21.20 update. Alongside Indy, there’s the brand-new Shuffled Shrines POI just west of the Joneses.

Shuffled Shrines has a secret door that players need to open to unlock the Indiana Jones Quests, and in true Indy fashion, there’s a puzzle to solve and deadly traps to avoid. Here’s how to solve the puzzle and open the secret door to complete the Fortnite Indiana Jones Quests.

How to open the secret door at Shuffled Shrines in Fortnite

Fortnite players looking to open the secret door at Shuffled Shrines will need to solve the stone puzzle.

There will be four stones around Shuffled Shrines, each with a different color-coded symbol. Starting on the south side of Shuffled Shrines, head clockwise around the area, marking down the symbol displayed on each shrine. While the stones will always be in the same place, the symbols will change each match.

You can check out their locations on the map below, and you’ll be able to hear them as you approach.

Once you’ve got all four symbols, head to the secret door in the middle of the POI. You’ll find four stones with the symbols, and use your interact button to have the stones display the symbols in the order that you visited them.

Once all four are correct, the stones will start glowing and the door will open. As this is an Indiana Jones Quest and POI, you’ll need to be careful of the traps that line the corridor as you approach the artifact.

Once you reach the main chamber where the artifact sits on a plinth (picking this up will give 250 Gold), look to your right and you’ll notice a doorway masked by a large bush.

Head through the door and go right to the end of the corridor and you’ll find two Mythic chests and you’ll complete the “Find the secret door past the main chamber in Shuffled Shrines” Indiana Jones Quest and unlock the Indy’s Dustoff Emote. But be careful, you can be squished by a boulder on your way out.

The Ruins in Fortnite

If you’re wondering where you can find The Ruins and collect a Durrburger Relic for the Fortnite Indiana Jones Quests then we’ve got you covered with the exact location on the map.

The Fortnite map features a variety of different locations for you to visit, and these contain different loot, objectives, NPCs, along with other fun surprises that you can discover after exploring.

However, a few landmarks aren’t marked on the map, and this can make things difficult if you need to visit a location for challenges. The Ruins is one of these locations, and we’ll go over how you can find it and complete an Indiana Jones Quest.

The Ruins in Fortnite

The Ruins Fortnite location

You can find The Ruins just southeast of The Daily Bugle on the northeast side of the Fortnite map. This location is marked by an ancient grey structure that makes it difficult for players to miss.

Since this landmark is located on the edge of the island, it will get enveloped by the storm early on during a match, so we recommend landing there directly and then collecting whatever loot you require right away.

Once you’ve got what you need, you can rotate to another location from there. To make things much easier for you, we’ve marked the exact location of The Ruins landmark on the Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 map below.

One of the new Indiana Jones Quests tasks you with visiting The Ruins in order to collect the Durrrburger Relic. We were able to find this item next to a tree on the middle level of this landmark.

Simply interact with the item when you see it and you’ll be on your way to unlocking the new Expedition Back Bling that’s part of the Indiana Jones cosmetics set. You’ll just need to head to The Temple and collect the Durrburger Relic from there as well.
