The Coral Castle POI went through some major map changes in the new patch of Fortnite Season 7, and this has caused a ton of controversy in the community.

Epic Games are always looking for ways to keep Fortnite fresh. They do this by introducing major crossovers, new weapons, new mechanics or even changing up the map.

After the 17.40 patch, the Coral Castle POI looks completely different. While map changes aren’t anything new to this game, this particular change hasn’t sat well with many members of the Fortnite community.

Reddit user Rifted-06 brought up the abduction of Coral Castle in the Fortnite: Battle Royale subreddit, claiming that the POI is now “even worse than it was before it was abducted.”

While it was previously surrounded by water, the battlegrounds of Coral Castle look completely different after the alien invasion. Much of the water and loot were removed in the update patch.

This change has proven to be controversial, and the Fortnite community is divided about it. Some players aren’t happy to see these changes, while aren’t concerned too much about them.

The Coral Castle POI was a point of contention for Fortnite players long before its abduction in the 17.40 update patch. “I prefer it just being erased from existence,” wrote one user.

With Season 8 fast approaching, a few players started forming their own theories about what might really be going on. “I’m betting that there are new POIs that are going into these places next season,” said one comment.

It remains to be seen what exactly Epic Games have planned for Coral Castle, but hopefully, we’ll know more soon enough. For more Fortnite, check out how to complete all the Week 12 Legendary Quests.
