Fortnite Impostors: How to play, win, and complete XP challenges

The 17.40 patch has added an Among Us-style Impostors mode into Fortnite, here’s everything players need to know about how to play and succeed.

Fortnite Impostors is a new mode added into the game for players to try out. Here’s how to play it, as well as some handy tips on being the perfect Impostor.

Even as it begins to slowly draw to a close, the Fortnite Season 7 content just keeps on coming. Both Wonder Woman and Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy have crossed over recently, with the likes of Naruto reportedly on the horizon.

However, Epic has gone one step further by adding in an entirely new mode in the latest update. Impostors isn’t too far away from a game like Among Us, but with a fresh coat of paint that roots it firmly in the Fortnite universe. Here’s how you can play and win Fortnite Imposters.

How to play Fortnite Impostors mode

Before you are able to access the new LTM, you will need to make sure the Fortnite 17.40 patch is downloaded to your console or PC. From there, you can find the steps below:

  1. Load up Fortnite and head into the battle royale mode
  2. In the bottom right hand corner of your screen, select the option to switch game modes
  3. Select Impostors on the second the row, underneath Solo and Duos
  4. Choose whether you want to play a public match, or setup a private lobby with friends
  5. Jump into a game

What is the new mode?

Between four and ten players can load into a game of Fortnite Impostors, with up to 8 being assigned the role of Agents. On a new map called The Bridge, these players are given a list of Fortnite-related tasks, whether preparing Chests and Llamas or fixing up the Battle Bus.

However, up to two players are given the role of Impostors. Their aim is to eliminate the Agents while blending in to avoid being discovered. Impostors also have a list of tasks they can complete to gain some trust, but each one they finish edges their opponents closer to victory.

How to win Fortnite Impostors as an Agent

When playing as an Agent, you have two routes to victory. The first is simply completing all of the assigned tasks at the start of the game while there are still enough Agents left standing. Impostors can also contribute to throwing players off the scent, but once all are completed, the Agents automatically win.

The second is by voting off all of the Impostors in the game. Agents can trigger a Discussion about who they feel is an Impostor by discovering a fallen teammate or triggering a panel on the map. The remaining agents can then vote out the player they are most suspicious of.

How to win Fortnite Impostors as an Impostor

For Fortnite Impostors, the only way to win is by eliminating all of the Agents without being discovered. While a Discussion is ongoing, you can use speech commands to convince others players that you are innocent.

To help stay hidden, Impostors are granted a few abilities. They are:

  • Disable Assignments – Temporarily freeze progress on all assignments
  • Teleport Players – Relocate all Agents and Impostors to somewhere else on The Bridge
  • Peely Party – For a short time, all Agents and Impostors look like Peely
The Bridge

How to complete Assignments

Whicher side you’re playing as, completing Assignments is a key part of Fortnite Impostors. Players can find tasks using the minimap on the bottom of the screen, with each one marked as an exclamation point.

While you’re completing a task, your screen is occupied, which is the perfect time for an Impostor to swoop in for the eliminations, so be on your guard. It’s also important to remember that Impostor can complete Assignments too, so seeing someone looking busy doesn’t necessarily mean you’re safe.

Fortnite Impostors tips and tricks

If you’re planning on diving in for the first time, it’s easy to be overwhelmed as other players lie and eliminate their way to victory. So, here are some tips to help you hold your own.

Follow Peely

Peely Party has emerged as an effective way of throwing Agents off the scent when you’re creeping around The Bridge. But if you’re on the other side, it can feel like the killer is getting a free pass because everyone looks like the same banana.

But if an Impostor does play Peely Party and you witness an elimination, resisting the urge to report it straight away is a way of combating its effectiveness. Instead of calling a Discussion immediately, be sure to chase after the killer so that when the power-up wears off, you can get a good look at who they are and can go into the chat well-informed.

Be the first to message

Speaking of Discussions, Impostors doesn’t feature any voice chat unless you’re in a party on a console or using an app like Discord. Instead, it relies on a series of pre-assigned text prompts for players to communicate.

This makes it tough to get your point across when everyone begins throwing out accusations. We recommend you put your thoughts as early as possible to try and dictate the conversation, especially if you’re trying to convince your fellow Agents that someone is guilty or an Impostor aiming to throw someone under the bus.

Keep track of where you’ve been

Although it sounds obvious, it’s easy to run from Assignment to Assignment when you’re an Agent without remembering which part of The Bridge you’ve been on and who with.

It’s always worth taking a mental note of which rooms you’ve been in and which other players you saw in the same areas when playing Fortnite Impostors. This will be extremely handy when it’s Discussion time, and Impostors are laying out their alibis.

If you know who’s been where, then you might be able to poke holes in what others players are saying and identify those who are lying in an attempt to cover their tracks.

Make sure you can see footsteps

Especially when playing as an Impostor, it’s crucial to be aware of how many other players are nearby. That’s why turning on this accessibility feature could make a huge difference.

Switching on “Visualize Sound Effects” in the game’s settings makes footsteps appear on-screen, usually from much further away than if you were trying to listen through a headset. This is why it has already been adopted by many in the normal battle royale mode.

By turning the indicators on, Impostors can be far more confident that the Agent they are planning to eliminate is alone, and someone isn’t going to run around the corner and catch them in the act.

How to complete Fortnite Impostors Challenges to earn XP

Although Impostors isn’t a traditional Fortnite mode, it still grants you XP to level up the Battle Pass. Even just completing a game rewards you and helps you boost your progression.

There are also a series of hidden challenges specific to the mode, which pop up at the end of the game. These are:

  • Complete assignments as an Agent: 4,500 XP
  • Play a Match: 1,500 XP
  • Spend time playing in a Match: 450 XP
  • Complete a Match: 3,000 XP
  • Win a Match: 3,000 XP
  • Perform Sabotages as an Impostor: 3,000 XP
  • Eliminate Agents as an Impostor: 4,000 XP

More challenges will likely be available as time goes on, but these are the handful that have been discovered so far.

Is Patrick Mahomes coming to Fortnite? Leaks claim new NFL skins arrive soon

According to leaks NFL cosmetics are set to return to Fortnite shortly, which could result in a Patrick Mahomes ICON skin.

Leaks have revealed that NFL cosmetics could be returning to Fortnite for another stint, which may lead to the reveal of the rumored Patrick Mahomes ICON skin.

Way back in 2018, NFL cosmetics made their way to Fortnite for the first time with the Gridiron skin. Fortnite players who purchased the skin could also utilize different variations that took on the color theme of the National Football League’s 32 teams.

With the NFL season set to start on Thursday, September 9, it’s no surprise that a Fortnite leaker is claiming NFL cosmetics will be returning to the game. The leaks also point toward the possible reveal of a Fortnite skin for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Although Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are still dominating the NFL, American Football fans view Patrick Mahomes as their successor. In many ways, he is already the face of the NFL at the age of 26.

The universal admiration that Mahomes has developed due to his stellar play, has led to several genre-bending opportunities. According to Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, a Patrick Mahomes ICON skin has been in the works for some time. With NFL cosmetics reportedly returning, it could be the perfect time to reveal said skin.

Fortnite fans in the replies were quick to question whether the returning NFL cosmetics would indeed be the Gridiron collection or an NFL collaboration that was released after the Gridiron skins.

According to players, the former would be a huge win as the Gridiron skins were well-liked, but the latter would be considered a disappointment: “I think he means the newer ones. Though, I could see them selling the original ones one last time for collectors since Fortnite didn’t say they would never come back.”

Given that these are just rumors, we’ll have to wait and see to find out which cosmetics are returning. Of course, the leaker also mentions that new NFL cosmetics alongside the rumored Patrick Mahomes ICON skin could arrive, so there’s plenty of reason to be excited.

Where to visit a familiar training location in Fortnite

Here’s how you can find the familiar training location for the Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 Dragon Ball challenges.

Bulma in Fortntie

One of the Dragon Ball challenges in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 requires you to visit a familiar training location, and we’ll go over where you can find this on the map.

The v21.40 update patch brought a plethora of changes to Fortnite, and the most notable addition has been the Dragon Ball crossover featuring brand-new cosmetic skins and Versus Boards.

This collaboration has also added brand-new challenges to complete in Chapter 3, Season 3, and we’ll go over how you can complete the Dragon Ball Warmup Quest to visit a familiar training location.

Where to find the familiar training location in Fortnite

The familiar training location is on a small island on the far east end of the map. Head over there and you’ll spot a house that should be instantly familiar to fans of the Dragon Ball franchise.

This location is based on the Kame House from the Dragon Ball anime, and you can visit it if you wish to speak with the Bulma NPC about purchasing the Kamehameha and Nimbus Cloud mythics.

You can find this location marked on the Chapter 3, Season 3 map, courtesy of Fortnite.GG. Simply head over to this small island and this Dragon Ball Warmup Quest will be marked as complete.

Successfully completing this Quest will grant you 3M Power, and you can tackle more of the Dragon Ball challenges if you want to get your hands on the rewards included in the mini battle pass.

However, you may face heavy opposition from enemy players that are also looking to complete all the Quests, so we recommend collecting high-tier gear and weapons first. This will ensure that you’re ready for a fight.
