New leaks suggest that Epic Games may be planning to bring the lightsaber melee weapon back to Fortnite on Star Wars Day, May 4, 2022.

Fortnite has featured a plethora of major collaborations with other popular franchises, bringing crossover content for players to unlock, including cosmetic skins such as Spider-Man and The Prowler.

Epic Games have also collaborated with Lucasfilm to bring Star Wars content to the battle royale, and now it seems that the lightsaber melee weapon will be making its return in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2.

Lightsabers were previously added to the battle royale as Mythic melee weapons during Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 2. They’ve been vaulted for quite some time, preventing players from wielding them.

However, it seems like that’s about to change, as the Fortnite news account ‘FortniteBR’ claimed that Epic Games will be unvaulting lightsabers to help players celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4, 2022.

There were previously four differently-colored versions of the lightsaber in Fortnite, and notable Fortnite data miner ‘LunakisLeaks’ claims that the weapon will return in purple, blue, green, and red.

The leaker posted a video of the lightsaber’s gameplay on Twitter, showcasing that players will be able to roll around, attack, and block hits while wielding the weapon. It’s unclear exactly how much damage the weapon will dish out to its targets upon its return.

It’s worth keeping in mind that these are currently just leaks, so take them with a grain of salt until Epic Games officially announce something. We’ll keep checking for updates regarding this.

This isn’t the only piece of rumored Star Wars content in 2022, as a few leaks are suggesting that the iconic villain Darth Vader will be appearing in Fortnite soon. If these leaks are accurate, then Epic Games may have more surprises for Star Wars fans.
