Fortnite players are calling for Epic Games to add a brand-new playlist feature to the battle royale in the form of input-based matchmaking, found in games like Apex Legends and Overwatch.

Fortnite’s cross-play feature allows PC and console users to join the same lobbies together, ensuring quicker matchmaking but also giving players on certain platforms an unfair advantage over others.

Mouse and keyboard users are often able to use weapons and maneuver more easily than others, so games like Overwatch and Apex Legends separate them away from controller players in different playlists to make things more even.

Now, Fortnite fans are asking Epic Games to add a similar playlist feature.

Reddit user ‘1MrNewton_IG’ asked the Fortnite developers: “Please can we have console-only servers or a cross-play on/off button? How am I supposed to keep up with people like this every game?”

One user mentioned the advantages PC players have over console players: “Aside from inputs, there are other big advantages to playing on PC such as FPS and performance mode. I play both console and pc and can confirm it is not even close to fair.”

Other console players in the thread also shared this sentiment, calling for input-based matchmaking similar to the one that’s featured in games like Apex Legends and Overwatch to make things a bit easier.

“Overwatch has a console-only pool, and it works just fine. It literally makes no sense why Fortnite can’t have one that doesn’t take half an hour to find a match.”

If Epic Games were to bring input-based matchmaking in some capacity to Fortnite, it would certainly allow players to enjoy more casual games without having to worry about dealing with these problems.

However, there are few options for these kinds of lobbies on Xbox, so limiting your matchmaking to players on certain platforms would lead to longer wait times before you could join matches.
