Fortnite players want Epic to nerf this “Pay-to-win” skin

Fortnite players have discovered a skin variant that gives a distinct competitive advantage. It’s been coined “pay to win”.

Fortnite players have discovered a skin that gives an advantage in dark areas. They’ve coined it “pay-to-win”.

During Season 4, Epic Games offered players a new skin set that gave them customizable superhero skins.

These skins gave players the ability to choose several different styles and colors. Of these colors came the problematic all-black variation, which makes the outfit extremely difficult to spot in dark areas.

Many competitive players took note of this advantageous skin and started using it in their games, resulting in what was seemingly a “pay to win” skin due to the immense difficulty to spot players in this skin.

In the Tweet above you can see the skin in action during a night game. With shadows enabled, players are near impossible to spot while sweeping a room. They’re easy to miss and appear to simply be black blobs in the corners.

For PC players, this can be alleviated by disabling shadows, but console players are stuck with this issue due to the inability to disable shadows.

This issue isn’t restricted to dark corners, as players can also blend into the game in general. A post by Fortnite Intel on Twitter shows us various areas across the map with players using the skin. It’s awfully difficult to spot at first glance, and most won’t notice until shadows are turned off.

For now, it’s best for PC players to run the game without shadows enabled, and a saturation filter applied to the game through NVIDIA Shadowplay or the AMD equivalent.

Console players could find small tricks with their displays to make players more visible, but they’ll be at the mercy of Epic Games until a proper patch is implemented.

Hopefully, Epic finds a way to properly compensate players, as the only possible option to fix this would be to completely remove the black skin variant. Perhaps we will see a replacement color or rework to the existing skin.

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 brought some of the biggest changes that we’ve seen in the battle royale title, including the arrival of Overshields and Tactical Sprint as well as the temporary removal of building.

Even with all this new content to sink our teeth into, we can’t help but think about the future. For Fortnite, that’s Chapter 3, Season 3, and if we know Epic, it’s sure to shake up the game in ways we can’t even imagine.

But when will we get our hands on this major update? Well, we’ve got everything you need, including the current Season 2 end date.

When does Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 end?

Epic Games haven’t given us an official end date for Season 2, but we can use the game’s Battle Pass to determine when it will come to a close.

According to the Battle Pass, Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 will end on Friday, June 3, 2022.

While Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 1 did not have an event to bring things to an end, data miners have uncovered strings in the v20.40 update files, and these indicate that Chapter 3, Season 2 may end with a live event.

The data miners mentioned an in-game countdown, a pre-event lobby, as well as brand-new skins for Paradigm and Jonesy. However, it’s worth keeping in mind that these are leaks, so take this information with a grain of salt.

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 start date

With the Season 2 end date in mind, Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 is set to begin on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

This would be the second consecutive time that Epic have started a new season on a weekend, with Season 2 kicking off on a Sunday.

Of course, it’s still possible that Epic Games could delay it by a couple of days, as most Fortnite updates release on a Tuesday. That would mean the patch is unlikely to launch any later than June 7, 2022.

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 leaks

At the time of writing, Epic Games haven’t revealed what content players should expect when Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 finally goes live. The developers will probably drop teasers near the release date of the season update.

Until that happens, we’ll have to rely on data miners sifting through the game files to try and discover what is coming next. A few notable leakers have uncovered brand-new content that may arrive in Season 3.

Darth Vader leaks in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3

After the developers showcased the Season 3 cinematic intro during the State of Unreal showcase, Fortnite data miner ‘iFireMonkey’ discovered a folder named “C3S3_Vader” in the presentation.

This has caused speculation about the arrival of iconic villain Darth Vader in Chapter 3, Season 3. Epic Games have previously added other Star Wars characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi to Fortnite, so this wouldn’t be surprising.

According to data miner ‘ShiinaBR,’ Darth Vader will be a boss NPC that players can battle in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3. While this sounds exciting, these are still just leaks, and we hope that the developers will confirm Vader’s arrival in an official announcement.

We’ll be sure to keep this post updated with any additional leaks or rumors that are discovered as the release date for Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 draws near.
