December 2 has finally arrived, and that means Fortnite fans have lots of new content to sink their teeth into thanks the arrival of Season 5. Here’s everything you need to know about the 15.00 update.

Season 4 came to its dramatic conclusion on December 1 when Galactus attacked the island, and attempted to eat the Zero Point that holds Fortnite’s reality in place. Thanks to some help from Marvel superheroes, the ‘Devourer of Worlds’ was sent packing, but not before he altered the Fortnite island massively.

The Zero Point energy ball is now exposed, and Jonesy has called in seven of the universe’s greatest hunters to protect it, and stop players from escaping the reality.

As always, the new season update for Fortnite brings new weapons and items, major updates to the loot pool, and much more. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite Season 5.

Bounties

One of the major additions to Fortnite Season 5 is the bounty system. With seven great hunters now roaming the island, including Star Wars’ Mandalorian, your job is to help them by taking on quests and bounties.

You can choose to team up by hiring them, or you can challenge them to a battle. The choice is yours, with rewards on offer for those who go toe-to-toe with these powerful warriors.

If you want to hire them, you’ll need Bars. These can be earned by completing quests or bounties, eliminating players, or finding them hidden across the island. You can spend your newly-acquired hardware on rare weapons, upgrades, intel, services, and more.

New Weapons

New weapons are a must for any new Fortnite season, and this one is no different. The Dragon Shotgun will help players “unleash their fiery rage” according to Epic, while Mandalorian’s Amban sniper rifle won’t just take down enemies at range, but can also be used as a melee weapon.

There are also seven new Floppers to catch, along with the Shadow Tracker, and more.

  • Dragon Shotgun
  • Shadow Tracker
  • New Floppers
    • Tiger Zero Fish
    • Leafy Zero Fish
    • Skull Zero Fish
    • Rift-To-Go Flopper
    • Sandstorm Rift Flopper
    • Zero Point Flopper
  • Bounty Board
  • Gold Bars & Safe
  • Boom’s Sniper Rifle (Mythic)
  • Amban Sniper Rifle (Mythic)
  • Mandalorian’s Jetpack (Mythic)

Loot Pool Changes

Along with new items, we’ve also seen some return from the game’s vault, with the Charge Shotgun and P90 reappearing, along with the Storm Scout Rifle and more.

  • Charge Shotgun
  • Double Barrel Shotgun
  • P90
  • SMG
  • Storm Scout Rifle
  • Tactical Shotgun
  • Balloons

Of course, bringing some items back means others have to leave to make room, with the Pump Shotgun controversially exiting the game once again. Just because an item is vaulted doesn’t mean we won’t ever see it again though, so don’t panic if one of your favorites is gone.

  • Revolver
  • Fire Trap
  • Scoped Assault Rifle
  • Epic/Legendary Pump Shotgun
  • Legendary Combat Shotgun
  • Scar
  • Epic/Legendary Tac SMG

Bug Fixes

It’s rare that Epic releases a patch without some fixes for glitches that have been affecting the game, and the v15.00 update is no different. The developers have fixed an issue where it was impossible to bind the same key to different actions for those who play with a keyboard, and have also removed the Bash Burner pickaxe from competitive playlists while they investigate a problem with it.

  • Huntress Outfit appearing as Ramirez or another Outfit.
  • Impossible to bind the same key to different actions with Keyboard.
  • Bash Burner Pickaxe temporarily disabled in competitive playlists.

What is Power Ranking (PR) in Fortnite?

Before becoming a Fortnite pro, there are certain terms that you must know about. This includes PR, which is short for Power Ranking.

PR in Fortnite explained

Fortnite is one of the biggest esports in the world and you might have noticed that pros heavily use the term PR. From its relevance to the calculation method, here’s everything to know about Power Rankings in Epic Games’ battle royale game.

Becoming a gamer, and especially a pro gamer certainly changes a lot. You’re expected to learn new lingos that can be as basic as being AFK (away from keyboard) and as complex as QQ (a crying emoji that is used to call other players unskilled).

Fortnite is no exception, as the battle royale title has its fair share of terms that players must know to fit in. This includes PR (Power Ranking), and here’s why it is so common among pros.

Table of Contents

What is Power Ranking?

Long story short, Power Ranking is a ranking given to pro players based on their performance in official Fortnite tournaments organized by Epic Games. For instance, these are some of the official competitive tournaments in Chapter 3 Season 3:

  • Cash Cups
  • Lightning Cups
  • Zero Build Cups
  • FNCS Qualifiers and Finals

Whenever a player takes part in such tournaments, they receive points which eventually contribute to their overall Power Ranking. Hence, it is one of the most rational ways to recognize the best players in the world.

Fortnite Power Rankings

Having said that, it’s important to know that Epic Games doesn’t release their own Power Rankings. Prominent stats website Fortnite Tracker has come up with a unique system that judges players and rolls these rankings out.

How to calculate Power Rankings in Fortnite?

For every top 10,000 placement, players get points ranging from 5 to 1000. Fortnite Tracker states that the system is top-heavy, which means placing in the top 100 grants significantly more points. A player outside the top 100 won’t receive over 200 points while the top teams can expect points between 200-1000.

Moreover, tournaments have multipliers based on their quality. Factors like prize pool and difficulty play a major role in deciding it.

While Cash Cups can have a 1x multiplier, the World Cup has a 10x multiplier. Accordingly, winning the World Cup is almost equivalent to winning 100 Cash Cups.

Significance of Power Ranking

Considering that there are different multipliers and parameters to earn Power Ranking points, it is natural for players to question the legitimacy of this system. This is where the decay system comes into play.

Four months after a tournament is concluded, Fortnite Tracker reduces the points earned through it by 10%. This process continues for 18 months, following which the points from the tournament become entirely obsolete.

This ensures that the Power Rankings only display pros who’ve been the most consistent in recent tournaments.

How to check your Power Ranking in Fortnite

To check your Power Ranking, follow these steps:

  • Visit Fortnite Tracker
  • Enter your Epic Games name and search for your profile.
  • Open the Events section which should display your Power Ranking and performance in all events.

The website also has a Leaderboards section that showcases the highest-ranked players in the world. The list is purely based on numbers and is constantly evolving as new tournaments take place.

Fortnite Power Ranking

Websites like Fortnite Esports Wiki also maintain their Power Rankings. It gives every tournament a tier based on the prize pool, difficulty, format, and number of players. Players then get points for placing high enough in these tournaments.

For now, the Chapter 3 Season 3 FNCS is right around the corner and players can expect some major changes in the Power Rankings. While veterans like Bugha, TaySon, and Clix will try to add more feathers to their caps, aspiring pros will look forward to dethroning the existing champions.

Fortnite shows no sign of slowing down with Chapter 3 Season 3 adding even more to the blockbuster battle royale such as the new Ripsaw Launcher and Grapple Glove. The 21.10 update brought Darth Vader to the island and added the Super Styles, and the upcoming 21.20 update brings even more to the battle royale.

Here are the early patch notes for Fortnite’s 21.20 update, including the server downtime, the Indiana Jones skin, bug fixes, and map changes.

Fortnite 21.20 update release date & downtime

Fortnite’s 21.20 update is set to give live on July 6, with downtime beginning at around 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST and matchmaking disabled 30 minutes before.

Although the Fortnite Competitive Twitter account teased changes for July 5, leaker Shiina pointed out that Fortnite changed the Cash Cup dates from July 6 to July 5 due to “expected game updates around the same time.” They believe this “basically confirms the update will drop on July 6.”

The downtime usually lasts for a couple of hours, and then you can launch the game and experience all of the new content on offer.

Indiana Jones arrives in Fortnite 21.20 update

Each Fortnite season comes with a bonus skin that Battle Pass owners can unlock a few weeks in, and Season 3’s 21.20 update finally brings Indiana Jones.

Although the skin isn’t set to arrive until July 7, the day after the update, Epic sometimes unlock the skin early — we’ll just need to wait and see.

Once the Indiana Jones Battle Pass page is unlocked, Fortnite players can start completing challenges to unlock the Harrison Ford skin and associated cosmetics.

Fortnite 21.20 map changes

The Fortnite Competitive Twitter account has confirmed that the Tumbledown Temple landmark will undergo “significant changes” with the 21.20 update.

While some expect the temple to get an Indiana Jones-themed makeover, it’s also possible that the Reality Tree will infect the area, giving the POI a different theme each match.

Fortnite No Sweat Summer challenges

Epic Games added the Island Hopper Creative Quests as part of the No Sweat Summer event and suggested that more challenges are still to come.

At the end of the Island Hopper blog post, Epic teased: “Want more summer vibes? No sweat, more summer is coming. Stay tuned for more.”

The Island Hopper Quests are only live until July 6, so it sounds like there will be even more challenges to complete after they conclude.

Fortnite 21.20 update bug fixes

Thanks to Epic Games’ Trello board of Fortnite Community Issues, we can see the major bug fixes that are set to arrive in the 21.20 update.

  • Battle Royale: Sapling Icon can be misplaced on the Map/Minimap
    • Players may see their Sapling Icon out in the ocean or otherwise off of the actual map and not anywhere near where they had planted it.
  • Creative: Tracker Device
    • We’re aware of an issue that is causing the tracker device to not update correctly for teams when multiple teams are able to use it.
