Fortnite players were frustrated at the game’s removal from Apple’s App Store back in 2020, and now the Epic Games CEO has hinted at the battle royale title’s return to the Store.

Fortnite is one of the most popular battle royale titles in the market with a huge player base around the world, and Epic Games keep it fresh by adding new content such as cosmetic skins and Weekly Quests.

However, the iOS version of the game was taken offline back in 2020, and this was frustrating to players on that platform. Now, it seems that Fortnite will be making its long-awaited return on iOS devices.

A few hours before 2023 arrived, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney tweeted: “Next year on iOS!” This was followed by another tweet showcasing an image of Fortnite’s in-game celebration for the new year.

This led to Fortnite players speculating about the battle royale title’s return on Apple’s App Store. Unfortunately, Tim Sweeney didn’t provide any more information beyond these two tweets.

Fortnite was removed from the Apple Store after Apple accused Epic Games of violating the terms of service. This proved to be difficult for players who could no longer enjoy the game on iOS devices.

Luckily, players were still able to play Fortnite on iPhone and iOS through Xbox’s Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now. At the time of writing, it’s unclear exactly when the battle royale title will return to the Apple Store.

If Tim Sweeney’s tweet is anything to go off then we may see it added to the Apple Store later in 2023. We’ll keep checking for any more developments regarding this, and we’ll be sure to update you as soon as an official date is revealed.
