Fortnite 17.40 patch notes: Impostor Mode, Coral Castle abduction
Fortnite’s 17.40 Update is officially here, with the August 17 patch introducing a new Imposter Mode, major map changes, and more to PC, Xbox Series X / S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
Fortnite Season 7 is well underway, with new weapons like the Prop-ifier and Grab-itron helping to keep things fresh. On top of that, players got to enjoy an in-game Ariana Grande concert as part of the Rift Tour event as major crossovers continue to take place.
The good news is that even if with all this going on, Epic is continuing to bring new content to the game, with a new Imposter Mode serving as the headline addition in the 17.40 update.

Fortnite 17.40 patch notes
Impostor Mode
Epic Games have been hinting for weeks at a new game mode, and it has finally arrived in the form of ‘Impostor Mode.’
The mode sees agents of the Imagined Order attempting to keep The Bridge safe by completing various assignments that have been set out for them. Be wary though, there are Impostors in your midst, who have disguised themselves as Order members to take the organization down from the inside.
Players who have played Among Us in the past will understand the mode pretty quickly, with Epic warning that you should “Trust nobody.”
Coral Castle abducted
Fortnite players will know that Coral Castle has been rumored for abduction for weeks, and it finally seems like it will happen after a new map shown during the FNCS showed the location looking incredibly different.
Slurpy Swamp has already fallen foul to alien abduction, and we can expect to see the castle and the smaller buildings around it disappear.
Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman is the latest superhero to arrive in Fortnite, joining Superman and Batman as DC characters who have joined the battle royale fray.
Players can unlock the skin by competing in the Wonder Woman Cup on August 18, before it’s added to the Item Shop.
