Fortnite players disappointed but “not surprised” by V-Bucks price increase
Epic GamesMany feel that Fortnite’s cosmetics aren’t cheap, and now players are expressing some frustration as Epic Games look to hike the price of V-Bucks.
Epic Games have announced that the price of V-Bucks in Fortnite will be increasing on October 27, 2023, by about 15% per bundle in several countries.
This comes as a result of “economic factors such as inflation and currency fluctuations.” The price increase has already been set in place for the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico, but it is being extended to “Czech Republic, Denmark, Eurozone countries, Hungary, Japan, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, and the United States.”
Of course, big news like this is bound to gain the reaction of the community, and many are “not surprised” by the announcement. Reddit user DecommissionedAlien highlighted the V-Bucks price increase in the Fortnite subreddit, asking the community how they “feel about Epic raising the price.”
While many in the comments said they “don’t like it” and even call it “silly,” there are also a few users who stated that they are “not surprised at all.”
This is mainly because players are used to the “overpriced Fortnite cosmetics,” but as one comment mentions, they aren’t surprised due to the “$250 million lawsuit” Epic Games had to go through against Apple.
That said, inflation is certainly real, and it’s not just V-Bucks that are seeing price increases, as even PlayStation increased the prices for their subscription service.
The majority of players feel that Fortnite’s skins are “already fairly overpriced,” so this price hike was never going to go down well. You can check out the new prices for items like V-Bucks bundles in Epic Games blog post regarding the price increase.
We’ll have to wait and see what the impact of these price increases are, as perhaps the devs will see a decline in purchases. Until then, make sure you also check out how to unlock the new Ahsoka Tano Star Wars skin.
