Fortnite players slam “pay-to-lose” Family Guy skin in Chapter 5
Epic GamesThe Giant Chicken Fortnite skin was a part of the long-awaited Family Guy collaboration, but a flaw in how the skin is designed has led players to dub it “pay-to-lose.”
Fortnite is a game where you cannot pay to get additional benefits in the game. Most of the skins in the game need to be purchased from the Item Shop, while some can be earned by progressing through the Battle Pass levels.
Generally, all skins have the same skeleton. But there are a few skins that are larger than normal, and players feel that they are easy to spot and tend to clip through structures.
This issue was seen in the case of the Giant Chicken Family Guy skin. As seen in a clip posted by ‘Shany’ on X (formerly Twitter), a portion of the Giant Chicken Fortnite skin was seen poking through the structure.
When this portion was shot at, the character took damage and was eventually eliminated. This drew comments from several frustrated players, who labeled the skin “pay-to-lose.”
Player ‘Johnathan Hetrick’ commented, “Oh but I thought all skins had the same hitboxes?? God I wish I had that one persons @ who swore to god that all skins hitboxes were the same.” For context, Epic Games shows a disclaimer below every skin in the Item Shop, which says that these skins offer no competitive advantage, which means every skin in the game has the same hitbox.
Another player named ‘John’ responded to this statement and said, “The hitboxes are the same for all skins the only way it’s pay to lose is that you can see it more easily.” However, several others believed that this was a bug and was affecting other skins too, and not just the Giant Chicken Fortnite skin.
As pointed out by player ‘Trashay,’ this issue existed since Chapter 2. They said, “Well since everyone is living under a rock, you can do this with any skin in the game lmao it’s been a glitch since chapter 2 when they switched the engine for the game.”
Considering that there are increased complaints about the Giant Chicken Fortnite skin being pay-to-lose, it will be worth seeing if the developers choose to address the issue in the next season. The Giant Chicken Fortnite skin is currently available in the Item Shop, and is priced at 2,000 V-Bucks.
