Many Fortnite players are enjoying everything Chapter 5 Season 1 has brought to the battle royale, but others think a key feature could be game-changing.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 took players to a brand-new map to introduce them to many new elements, like Society Bosses and Train heists, alongside collaborations with Family Guy and Metal Gear Solid players can get through the latest Battle Pass.

And while many are still discovering and enjoying the new locations, weapons, and items available, other Fortnite players are nostalgic for better times. Fortnite OG took players back to the original map for a month in 2023, and while fans wait for it to become a permanent mode, others think a key feature could leave everyone happy.

Reddit user ‘war0na’ made a post titled “I finally understand the Fortnite OGs,” where they admitted they missed all the elements Chapter 4 had to offer. “I miss Chapter 4 so much. I had the most fun there. I miss Mega City, Brutal Bastion, Frenzy Fields, etc. I know people have mixed feelings about it, but I enjoyed it the most. I would love to have that map back one day,” OP stated.

And while many users agreed, others started debating around a popular feature that could bring some of those maps back.

One user said: “I’ve always said they need to handle maps just like Apex does,” and the detailed way for Fortnite to keep the experience fresh for all players:

  • “Every season, during the first 2-3 weeks, the only map available is the current one (to give players time to check out the changes)
  • The rest of the season, the current map is still available alongside another random map from a random chapter (random season even) every 1 or 2 hours the map changes to the other one
  • Loot pool is the current one, even on the old map. The only thing that the old map will keep would be its “fixed loot” (like those jump pads that spawn automatically placed in certain locations)
  • Rankeds won’t have the old map, only current. Same with any other competitive event.”

Another player suggested “the ‘current’ map could serve as the normal BR map,” while having “a separate mode with map rotation.”

Other players quickly agreed with this suggestion, thinking about having the OG, Chapter 4, and Chapter 2 maps back, even if it’s for a limited time. Fortnite OG broke records for Epic Games, so bringing back some fan-favorite maps shouldn’t be that far-fetched.

On the other hand, others believe it’s not possible for a game using Unreal Engine 5 to keep all that content. “That sounds so good, but it would also be a heavy a** game,” commented one user, and another added, “Map rotation also works for Apex due to the maps being smaller.”

With Fortnite adding entire experiences with LEGO, Festival, and Rocket Racing, it’s hard to imagine they’ll add map rotation to the battle royale anytime soon, but it could definitely be a great addition to the title.
