Epic Games took the entire community by surprise with the announcement of Fortnite Reload, which promises to take players back to some classic POIs of the game’s early days along with a new fast-paced game mode.

In a recent teaser, the devs unveiled a smaller map for this new game mode, hinting at a setting that veterans Fortnite Chapter 1 players will find familiar.

The brief teaser showcases six classic Fortnite points of interest (POIs), including Tilted Towers, Lil’ Loot Lake, Retail Row, Lazy Laps, Pleasant Park, and Sandy Sheets.

According to leaks from insider iFireMonkey, Fortnite Reload will adopt a gameplay style akin to Call of Duty: Warzone’s Resurgence mode. In this format, fallen players can swiftly respawn without needing to be rebooted at a reboot van if at least one teammate remains alive.

Given it is set to take inspiration from CoD’s Resurgence, the community speculated that the smaller island size of the Fortnite Reload map will encourage quicker-paced matches, offering a more dynamic twist on the traditional Battle Royale experience.

This theory gained traction within the community after the devs’ follow-up post below the teaser stating, “A place of high energy!! And forgiveness. All new mode – TOMORROW!”

Following the announcement, players celebrated this new surprise mode as a major victory. “This is exactly what the Fortnite community had been waiting for. Fortnite is back baby,” a player shared. Conveying the excitement, content creator NickEh30 commented, “Fortnite making a comeback this season.”

If you’re eager players to learn more, Epic are set to unveil further details regarding the mode along with the official launch trailer on June 21, 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET (June 22) / 5 AM BST (June 22). We’ll be sure to update this piece with all the information announced about Fortnite’s Reload.
