Epic GamesThe latest LEGO Fortnite update brought a variety of new features into the game, and fishing is one of those. If you want to know how to start catching fish and craft your own fishing rod in LEGO Fortnite, here’s all you need to know.
Survival games, or modes, like LEGO Fortnite normally involve players in different outings and activities to hunt for food and shelter. Fishing is clearly one of the best methods to survive out there, and now LEGO Fortnite introduced this mechanic in its latest update.
As with most things inside the LEGO mode in Fortnite, you will need to hunt for materials and craft a fishing rod before you can even start fishing. So, with that in mind, here’s all you need to know to start catching your own fish in LEGO Fortnite.
How to craft Fishing Rod in LEGO Fortnite
Players can craft their first Fishing Rod in LEGO Fortnite by using the Crafting Bench. The common version of the Fishing Rod requires one Wooden Rod, two Cords, and one Wolf Claw.
LEGO Fortnite features four different rods to craft, each of a different rarity. Each rod gives you access to better fish, but you will need to put in some effort if you want to have the best rod and catch the best fish out there.
So, here are the different craftable Rods of each rarity and all materials needed:
- Common Fishing Rod (craftable at a Level 1 Crafting Bench)
- Unlock the recipe for the Common Fishing Rod by adding a Cord to your inventory.

How to fish in LEGO Fortnite
To fish in LEGO Fortnite, players will need to approach any water body and press the left click, or the corresponding controller trigger, to cast the Rod. Once the bait is in the water, and the fish eats it, you need to hold the left click to take it off the water just like in Fortnite Battle Royale.
When you get the fish out, you can press E, or the corresponding controller button, to toss the fish back into the water. If you wait a few seconds, it should be automatically added to your inventory.
