What is Mythic Goldfish in Fortnite Reload?

Fortnite Reload has arrived and players are coming across an item they’ve never seen before called the Mythic Goldfish. The mode brings back loot and locations from past Chapters, but this is one that most will have missed when it was first available.

Mythic Goldfish explained

The Mythic Goldfish is a throwable that can knock any player in one shot in Fortnite Reload, regardless of how much health and shield they have. It’s used just like a Grenade or other similar items, where holding down the aim button lets you adjust its trajectory before the shoot button lets it rip.

It’s fairly difficult to use, as you’ll need to land a direct hit to secure the knock, but the reward is well worth the risk.

Unlike the other throwables in the game, the rare Goldfish isn’t spent after a throw. Instead, it can be picked back up from the same location it landed and thrown again straight away.

This means that if an enemy tries to hit you and misses, you can quickly grab it and send it right back at them to try and get an elimination of your own. Alternatively, if you do manage a direct impact, you can reuse it as long as you have time to go and retrieve it.

Where to find

You can get the Mythic Goldfish by searching Chests or opening Supply Drops in the new Reload mode. Although, it’s an extremely rare item, so you may go through multiple matches without coming across it, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye out for.

Back when it was first introduced to regular battle royale matches, the only way to get the item was by fishing. However, its drop was just 0.0001%, making it one of the rarest items in the entire game and a piece of loot that many players didn’t even know existed.

The drop rates have been boosted in Reload, as it’s already been a much more common sight since the mode went live. But, it’s still a tough item to track down, so it’s not advised that you pin all your hopes on getting one to carry to victory.

When was it added & vaulted?

The Mythic Goldfish was first introduced back in Chapter 2 Season 1, when its one-in-a-million drop rate and ridiculous damage made it one of the most sought-after weapons in the loot pool. It stuck around for the entire Chapter, before being vaulted in Chapter 3 Season 1.

Since then, Chapter 5 has been subtly teasing its comeback, after it appeared briefly in the Ship it! Express LTM and got added to Creative Mode.

Although it has popped up in Fortnite over the years, this is the first time the Myhtic Goldfish has been part of a permanent mode since December of 2021.
