Frustrating Vanguard bug completely breaks FOV slider

Call of Duty: Vanguard players are being repeatedly hit by a frustrating bug that’s moving their FOVs down to around 80 and locking it in place.

Call of Duty players were delighted to learn that Vanguard’s multiplayer would launch with a Field of View (FOV) slider. This allows you to increase how much of your surroundings are visible, catch things you’d otherwise miss, and reduce motion sickness.

With the best FOV settings, Vanguard becomes a much better experience. However, Vanguard has launched with a frustrating glitch that’s forcing FOVs to an incredibly low number, and players need to fully restart the game to fix it.

Call of Duty Vanguard FOV slider

Vanguard’s subreddit has been full of players complaining about the bug which forces FOVs to around 80. Reddit user ‘LondonEagleCPFC’ shared their experience with an “annoying FOV bug on PC,” and several other users confirmed the same issue.

‘HilariouslyGarbage’ said they’ve “ran into it a few times,” and “discovered games can actually make me feel nauseous.” And another user confirmed that it also happens on PS5, so it’s not a PC-exclusive issue.

Twitter user ‘Revvulation’ showed the bug in action, proving that moving the FOV slider had no effect. In this clip, we can clearly see that Vanguard was showing a low FOV, but he pulled up the slider to show that it was set to 120 – the highest it can go. Adjusting the FOV slider had no effect, either.

How to fix Vanguard FOV bug

As many users have discovered, the only way to fix the FOV bug is by completing closing down Vanguard and launching it again.

Backing out to the menus has no effect as the glitch will still be there when you load into another game. Some have said they need to restart their whole system, so you should try that if restarting the game doesn’t help.

Vanguard has only been out for a few days, so we expect this bug to be fixed in a future update. Stay tuned to Charlie INTEL, as we’ll keep you updated if Sledgehammer Games respond.
