Following much anticipation and speculation surrounding the possibility of exclusive Xbox titles becoming available on competing platforms, Microsoft have officially confirmed the release of several exclusive games on both PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
This move aligns with Microsoft’s overarching strategy within the gaming industry, aiming to expand the reach of their games beyond their Xbox consoles.
Despite not all the Xbox exclusive games arriving on competing platforms, and following a Bethesda LATAM leak on Hi-Fi Rush’s PS5 release date, here are all the official release dates confirmed by Microsoft of its exclusives in other platforms.
Every Xbox exclusive coming to PlayStation 5 & Nintendo Switch
Xbox has confirmed in a news post on its official website that the rumored Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded are the games releasing on other platforms, with dates planned for the first part of 2024.
Here’s every Xbox exclusive arriving on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch:
- Hi-Fi Rush (Tango Gameworks, PS5): March 19, 2024.
- Pentiment (Obsidian Entertainment, PS4, PS5 & Switch): February 22, 2024.
- Sea of Thieves (Rare, PS5): April 30, 2024.
- Grounded (Obsidian Entertainment, PS4, PS5 & Switch): April 16, 2024.
During the latest episode of The Official Xbox Podcast, Spencer declared that there hasn’t been any change in the company’s commitment to producing Xbox exclusives. However, he anticipated a reduction in the number of console exclusives throughout the industry in the coming decade.
Following Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard acquisition, Microsoft’s gaming business grew noticeably and the company is looking at the opportunity for Xbox to evolve “to ensure long-term success for both Xbox and the industry as a whole,” including placing its games on competing platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
“We make every decision with the long-term health of Xbox in mind, which means a growing platform, our games performing, building the best platform for creators, reaching as many players as we can,” Spencer said to The Verge.
