What are Deviants in Once Human?
Deviants are cute little creatures like sentient toys or objects that you can capture in Once Human. Depending on their type, their attributes give you different buffs to help you survive in this post-apocalyptic world.
Deviants can be divided into four categories:
- Combat: They’ll assist you while fighting enemies that you find while exploring.
- Territory: They help with gathering resources, mining, and defending your base.
- Gadget: They specialize in crafting special items.
- Furniture: You can place them in your territory and interact with them as with a regular piece of furniture.
How to get & use a Deviation
You can participate in events, complete quests, and progress in Once Human’s main campaign to get more Deviants. You can spot Deviations while you’re exploring since they’ll look like a floating orb with a creature inside.
To use a Deviation effectively, you’ll need to watch out for its Mood and Deviant Power since they’ll determine its crafting, gathering, and combat performance. Deviant Power is what activates Deviants, and you’ll need to successfully be able to restore it to keep them going.
In order to do that, you’ll need to create a better Securement Environment for them. As you’re building your base, you can view what type of conditions your Deviant needs and if it matches the Isolated Securement Unit that you want to build (some may require different lights or music).
Deviants will surely help you craft Special Recipes in Once Human, but you’ll have to locate your base for them to reach different resources faster and without putting your Hive in danger.
