Best Jayber build in The First Descendant

Jayber in The First Descendant

Besides the first three characters you get to pick when starting in The First Descendant, Jayber is another beginner-friendly option if you want to understand how to put a stop to the Vulgus and Colossi.

If you’re up for a strategic playstyle, check out everything you need for the best Jayber build, including Module Setup, weapons, and how to make the most of his skills.

Best build for Jayber in The First Descendant

  • Modules: Attacking Compulsion, DEF Accelerant, Nimble Fingers.
  • Reactor: Materialized Phase, Materialized Singularity
  • External Components: Max Shields, Max HP
  • Weapon: Enduring Legacy

Jayber can be transformed into a great DPS character using the Attacking Compulsion Module, which will turn his Medical Turret into another Assault Turret. To boost his survivability and get his best build, you can use the Materialized Phase Reactor as well as any other External Component to buff his shields and HP.

While this Descendant can also be used as a support, leaving this role to any Yujin or Enzo in my team lets me build this unit as a DPS that can focus on multiple fronts in the middle of a battle.

Best Module Setup

Jayber is a great character to choose for those who like Utility roles since his whole kit rotation relies on his ability to deploy turrets that deal damage or heal allies. This means that you’ll need to focus on reducing his skill cooldowns, which let you use his turrets consistently.

If you want to set him as a full damage dealer, equip Attacking Compulsion, DEF Accelerant, Skill Cost Optimize, and Nimble Fingers. These will let you change your Medical Turret for another Assault Turret, and their reduced cooldown allows you to move them around continuously during combat.

However, keep in mind that his mobility isn’t great, so getting him Modules like Increased HP and Increased DEF early on will help his survivability.

Best Reactors

The best Reactor to get Jayber’s best build is Materialized Phase, which boosts its Non-Attribute and Dimension skills. Since I focused on building him as a DPS, anything that buffed the Assault Turret skill was welcomed.

You can also use anything that boosts his Skill Power and Sub Attack Power, which improves his turrets’ damage output.

Best External Component

External Components are the last thing you’ll have to worry about when building this unit, as they are random base drops that will only appear after you reach max level. Once it’s time, you can focus on equipping anything that boosts Max Shields, Max HP, HP Recovery, or DEF to strengthen your Jayber build.

Best weapons for Jayber in The First Descendant

Enduring Legacy

  • Firearm ATK: 28
  • Fire Rate: 571
  • Reload Speed: 2.7 seconds
  • Effective Range: 40m
  • Craftmanship: On hitting an enemy, it increases Status Effect Trigger Rate corresponding to the element and inflicts the unique ability of Quenching to the target enemy. On hitting a Burned enemy, it increases Firearm ATK and applies this buff to the attack.
Enduring Legacy weapon in The First Descendant
You can equip the Enduring Legacy with the Fire Enhancement and Concentrate Support Ammo mods.

This high-damage weapon is a perfect combination to get the best Jayber build as a DPS since most of his skills aren’t used to inflict damage directly. Since this Machine Gun increases Firearm ATK and inflicts the vulnerable status, combining it with his turrets works great against large groups of enemies.

Afterglow Sword

  • Firearm ATK: 240
  • Fire Rate: 66
  • Reload Speed: 2.5 seconds
  • Effective Range: 55m
  • Nightmare Reaper: On hitting an enemy’s weak point, inflicts the unique ability Death Propagation. On hitting an enemy commander or Collossi, increase Firearm critical hit rate and apply the effect to the attack.
Afterglow Sword first descendant
This Sniper Rifle is the best choice for focusing on weak point damage.

Using the Afterglow Sword Sniper Rifle in The First Descendant can make this unit an unstoppable force if you position everything right. While your turrets attract enemies, you can focus on enemy commanders’ weak points to trigger its Nightmare Reaper buff to increase your Firearm Critical Hit Rate.

Nazeistra’s Devotion

  • Firearm ATK: 400
  • Fire Rate: 150
  • Reload Speed: 1.5 seconds
  • Effective Range: 25 m
  • Fanaticism: On hitting an enemy’s Weak Point, inflicts the unique ability Devotion Mark on the target enemy. On hitting an ally, that ally’s shield is restored at the cost of your MP. If your current MP is less than the MP cost, this effect is not triggered.
Nazeistra's Devotion Hand Cannon in The Firs Descendant
Naziestra’s buffs allow this unit to focus on his support role even if he has two Assault Turrets.

Since Jayber’s main feature is setting turrets, Naziestra’s Devotion will let him keep enemies at bay and heal his allies with its Fanaticism buff. This becomes extra helpful if you opt to build this Descendant as a full damage dealer, and you’ve exchanged his Medical Turret for another Assault Turret.

Best Active skill for Jayber

The best Active skill for Jayber in The First Descendant is Assault Turret. Summoning these will give him multiple DPS points to engage with enemies, and combining them with the Multi-Purpose Gun will greatly enhance this unit’s damage.

In case you’re suddenly swarmed by enemies, you can make a quick escape with Reactivate to reposition your turrets to a safer spot.

Abilities explained

  • Turret Sync (Passive): ATK increases when Assault Turret and Medical Turret are both summoned.
  • Assault Turret: Summons an assault turret to attack the enemy. If enhanced, it launches attacks into nearby areas.
  • Medical Turret: Summons a medical turret to heal allies and distract enemies. If enhanced, it restores Mana.
  • Multi-Purpose Gun: Changes gun to a Multi-Purpose Gun. If hit by a Multi-Purpose Gun, turret enters an enhanced state.
  • Reactivate: Recalls all summoned turrets and inflicts powerful damage to nearby enemies. After using Total Recall, you enter Overhaul state, where turrets are summoned in their enhanced states.

To make the best out of Jayber’s abilities, focus on deploying both his turrets strategically. If you manage to do so, the Turret Sync passive will increase their attack damage and boost their damage with his Multi-Purpose Gun.

During Boss fights, keep in mind that deploying both turrets consistently is what will give you a stable damage output. This will also take some heat off him, who has to be constantly on the move to attract enemies.
