Who is Billy Kid in Zenless Zone Zero?

HoYoverse are always improving their character designs with fresh aesthetics, and Zenless Zone Zero is no exception. Fans fell in love when the game was announced thanks to Agents like Billy Kid.

However, with the game releasing very soon, is Billy Kid a character worth trying? Learning all about his abilities and Talents will help you decide.

Faction & backstory

Billy Kid is part of the Cunning Hares faction, which is the first one players meet while playing the main campaign. What’s more, the first free units available in ZZZ are from this faction, with Nicole Demara leading the team.

Billy is described as a “handsome cyborg,” and while not much was revealed about him, we know he’s an avid fan of the fictional show called Starlight Knight. Part of his humor relies on quoting the show and believing he’s part of the Starlight Knights, so players will notice many of his attacks are related to the show.

Abilities

• Full Firepower (Basic Attack) – Pierces enemies in front, dealing Physical damage.
• Stand Still (Special Attack) – Performs up to three piercing attacks in a line, dealing Physical damage. Anti-Interrupt level is increased while using this skill.
  • Clearance Time (EX Special Attack) – When Billy has enough energy, he can pierce enemies in a line, dealing massive Physical damage. He’s invulnerable while using this skill.
• Risky Business (Dodge) – A rapid dodge that makes Billy invulnerable.
  • Starlight Sanction (Dash Attack) – Pierces nearby enemies within a large area, dealing Physical damage. If Billy doesn’t move during a dodge, he’ll pierce enemies in a line instead of a large area.
  • Fair Fight (Dodge Counter) – Pierces enemies in front, dealing Physical damage. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
• Starlight Mirage (Chain Attack) – Unleashes a powerful piercing attack at enemies within a large area, dealing massive Physical damage. Billy is invulnerable while using this skill.
• Starlight Sparkle (Ultimate) – Unleashes a powerful piercing attack at enemies in a large area, dealing massive Physical damage. Billy is invulnerable while using this skill.

Billy Kid is a Physical Attribute Agent. He’s an Attack unit with a Pierce attack type, meaning he can deal a lot of damage fast, especially against Humanoid enemies.

Since you can get Billy very early in the game as a free unit, you won’t have trouble mastering his abilities in battle. In a team with Nicole and Anby, he’ll be doing most of the damage thanks to his kit.

Talents

• Dazzling Entrance (TA) – When Billy hits an enemy with a Dash Attack or Dodge Counter, he gains an additional 2.7 Energy. Can trigger once every 5 seconds.
• Roaming Gunslinger (TB) – Billy’s Dodge Counter DMG increases by 25%. Rolling Shots during his Basic Attacks are treated as dodges, making Billy Invulnerable during the skill and able to trigger Perfect Dodges. When a Rolling Shot triggers a Perfect Dodge, it will automatically become a Dodge Counter.
• Teachings of the Starlight Knights (TC) – Basic Attack, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2.
• Starlight Ballistics (TD) – When Billy hits an enemy with his EX Special Attack, the skill’s CRIT Rate is increased based on the distance from the enemy. The closer he is to the target, the greater the effect, up to a maximum increase of 32%.
• Supercharged Bomb (TE) – Basic Attack, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2.
• Supercharged Bomb (TF) – When Billy accumulates 10 hits on enemies or triggers a Perfect Dodge, his DMG increases by 6%, stacking up to five times and lasting until he’s knocked back or launched by an attack.

Talents are Zenless Zone Zero’s equivalent to Genshin Impact‘s Constellations or HSR‘s Eidolons. This means that, while you’ll get Billy for free by simply playing, you’ll need to pull for him to get all his Talents.
