How to play Concord Beta – Release date & platforms

Concord is an upcoming 5v5 hero shooter from PlayStation Studios that has caught the eyes of players through its distinct art style. The Overwatch-style FPS received its first gameplay presentation during the May 2024 State of Play, where the devs also announced their plans for a pre-release Beta test.

The offers a unique take on the popular hero shooter genre through an evolving in-game story and a vibrant cast of characters. If you’re looking to play it early, here’s everything to know about the Concord Beta.

Concord Beta start date

The Beta will kick off with an early access weekend starting on July 12 and ending on July 14 which will be exclusive to players who’ve pre-ordered any edition of Concord.

The Open Beta, which will be free to play for all players, will begin on July 18 and end on July 21.

How to play

To try out the Open Beta, PS5 players will need to head over to the PlayStation store and download the game. If you’re on PC, you’ll be able to access the Beta by downloading it from Steam.

As mentioned earlier, the early access weekend will only be available to players who’ve pre-ordered any edition of the game.

The devs will reveal information regarding pre-load dates and server availability in the near future, so be sure to revisit this article.

Beta platforms

The Beta test will take place on PS5 and PC. Keep in mind that PC players will need a PlayStation Network Account to access the game.

Playable characters

The Beta will feature all 16 characters available in the full release. Characters revealed so far include:

  • Star Child
  • Lennox
  • 1-OFF
  • It-Z
  • Teo
  • Bazz

Maps & game modes

Four maps will be available during the early access weekend and an additional map will join the rotation once the Open Beta kicks off. They are:

  • Water Hazard
  • Star Chamber
  • Shock Risk
  • Fire Mines
  • Bone Mines
Water Hazard is set on the stormy planet of Leviathan.

The playtest will have four game modes for players to check out:

  • Trophy Hunt – A Kill Confirmed-style mode where players have to take down members of the rival team and collect their bounty cards. The first team to reach the target score before time runs out wins.
  • Cargo Run – In this mode, the goal is to retrieve the Blue Buddy robotic package delivery system, plant it at one of the zones, and successfully defend it from the rival team.
  • Clash Point – This is a round-based, no-respawn mode where teams compete to control a single capture zone at a central location on the map.
  • Area Control – As the name suggests, the objective of this mode is to capture and control zones around the map. Capture two or more zones to increase your team’s score. Infinite respawns are enabled in Area Control.
