Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released sometime in Fall, 2024, as announced by BioWare during the Xbox Showcase 2024.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard story
According to Gary McKay, Executive Producer of Dragon Age, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a new standalone story set in the world of Thedas. Players will get to play as the new lead hero, who will meet seven unique companions throughout their adventure.
As the narrative progresses, players will get to play through companions’ questlines and strengthen or weaken their relationship depending on their decisions. During the official reveal trailer, these were the companions announced: Harding (Scout), Neve (Detective), Lucanis (Mage killer), Belaria (Veil Jumper), Emmrich (Necromancer), Davrin (Warden), and Taash (Dragon Hunter).
Dread Wolf, the elven god of betrayal and rebellion, is still featured in the main campaign and will be an antagonist in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. However, McKay said that he won’t be central to the story: “Dread Wolf still has an important part in this tale, but you and your companions – not your enemies – are the heart of this new experience,” he confirmed in BioWare’s blog.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay
On June 11, BioWare released the first look at the gameplay of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This video showcases some of the mechanics that you will come across while playing the game.
As seen in the footage, bringing up your ability wheel will pause the game till you choose between the different abilities that are available for your character.
One interesting bit noticed in the gameplay trailer was that whenever an enemy is getting ready to use a ranged attack on you, you’ll see a white line indicating that an attack is incoming. You can use this line as a reference to time your dodges accordingly.
While selecting the dialogues from the dialogue wheel, you’ll be able to see an icon beside them which signifies how that choice might sound and be perceived by others in your party, and might affect the standing you have with the others in your party.
All enemy types in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Apart from the main antagonist of the game, Solas, some other enemy types were also showcased in the gameplay premiere. The two main enemy types seen in the footage so far are as follows:
- Demons of the Fade
- Venatori cultists
The footage was from the early segment of the game, so there’s a high chance that you’ll encounter more enemies in the later sections in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
