EA College Football 25 release date, licenses & everything you need to know

EA College Football 25 is the name that has been on the minds of football fans since EA announced the upcoming title. EA Sports have revitalized the NCAA Football series that Electronic Arts discontinued after the release of the 2013 installment.

Here’s what you need to know about EA Sports College Football 25.

Release date

EA College Football 25 will be released on July 19, 2024, as confirmed by EA Sports. However, there is a way to play this new EA title up to three days before its launch through an early access benefit.

How to play EA College Football 25 early

You can get early access to College Football 25 before its release by pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition or the MVP Bundle.

In addition to securing some exclusive in-game bonuses, players with early access will be able to play EA College Football 25 as of July 15.

Those with an EA Play subscription will get access to a 10-hour trial as of July 15.

All editions

There are three editions up for grabs: Standard, Deluxe, and MVP.

The Standard edition costs $69.99/£69.99 and includes the base game. On the other hand, the Deluxe edition costs $99.99/£99.99 and, in addition to the base game, offers 3-day early access and multiple in-game bonuses to give you an edge in all the available game modes.

Then, the MVP Bundle is the most expensive option at $149.99/£149.99, and it comes with the Deluxe Edition of College Football 25 and the Deluxe Edition of Madden 25.

Cover athletes

Quinn Ewers, Donovan Edwards, and Travis Hunter are the cover athletes for both the Standard and Deluxe editions.

Platforms

EA College Football 25 will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

EA Sports confirmed this after revealing the cover and all editions of the game. Players on last-gen consoles and PCs will miss out on the return of NCAA football.

Does EA Colege Football 25 have crossplay?

Yes, the devs confirmed that the game will have the crossplay feature, allowing players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to compete against each other. This feature is enabled by default in all online game modes.

However, players can choose to disable this feature. You can disable the crossplay feature in different ways depending on your console.

On Xbox Series X|S, it must be done through the console system settings.

  1. Press the Xbox Button on your controller
  2. Go ahead to “Profile & System” and select “Settings“
  3. Then follow this route in the “General” tab: “Online safety & family” > “Privacy & online safety” > “Xbox Privacy” > “View details & customize” > “Communication & multiplayer“
  4. Under the “You can join cross-network play” you can switch from “Allow” to “Block“
  5. And that’s all you need to do to disable the crossplay feature in Xbox Series X|S

On PlayStation 5, players can opt out of crossplay through the in-game settings. Once the game comes out we’ll make sure to update how to disable the crossplay feature on PlayStation 5.

Game modes

The game will feature four main game modes: Dynasty, Road to Glory, Ultimate Team, and Road to the College Football Playoffs. Here’s what each of them will be about:

  • Dynasty: The traditional Manager Mode. Create a coach and build a powerhouse college football program from scratch. Hire your coaching staff, recruit top talent, and watch your program ascend to the sport’s pantheon.
  • Road to Glory: The traditional Career Mode. You can create a player and take home the Heisman as you build an unforgettable college football legacy.
  • College Football Ultimate Team: Build your dream team of college football stars and legends, and test your squad and skills against other players in College Football Ultimate Team Champs and Champs Gauntlet.
  • Road to the College Football Playoff: Represent your favorite team, defeat the toughest opponents, and compete for the National Championship.

Licenses

FOS posted the description of EA College Football 25 on the PlayStation Store, confirming that there will be 134 schools in the game. This also means that all regional and national championships of the NCAA are expected to be in the game.

Regarding players, EA Sports confirmed on the game’s X account that over 10,000 athletes are officially in the game, providing an idea of the magnitude of the database that the game will have.
