Enshrouded is an open-world action RPG that was quietly released in early access on January 24, 2024. Likened to Valheim, the game tasks players with exploring, building bases, and crafting to survive the terrors of the world.

Enshrouded release date

Enshrouded was released in early access on January 24, 2024, and there are plans for the full game to release within a year of its early access launch.

The Enshrouded devs, Keen Games, have not provided an official release date for the full game. When looking on the Steam store page, they have said that the full game release will depend on feedback from players. 

“We firmly believe that by then we can offer a game that is worthy of your time, money and will bring you fun for years to come,” they said. 

Enshrouded storyline & gameplay

Enshrouded takes place in the realm of Embervale, and players have to survive the wild to discover ancient secrets and cultures that have been lost to a corrupting fog called The Shroud. 

Players start on the map with nothing to their name, and they must scavenge resources to craft weapons, build bases, and survive The Shroud. Each server can carry up to 16 players, making this a survival action RPG perfect for playing with friends. 

There is a main questline that you can follow that will give you resources, weapons, and armor. You can explore the map as far as you want, and you are not tied to any questlines if you want to open up new areas. 

The Shroud is one of the main mechanics of the map as the area has been corrupted by fog. This is an extremely challenging area, so some grinding will be necessary to effectively reach it and discover its secrets.

The game has unlockable NPC characters like a Blacksmith, Alchemist, Hunter, Farmer, and Carpenter. These NPCs are essential to your progression, and they each have quests that help you enhance your own crafting abilities.

Combat is stamina-based, and there are many creatures waiting to be discovered in different areas of the huge map. Alongside general weapons and armor, the game also has Magic mechanics that you can use (which, according to players, are currently overpowered).

Enshrouded is available to play on Steam. 

For the time being, Enshrouded is only available on Steam in early access. There has been no mention of plans for other platforms yet, but we will keep you updated if that changes.
