Fortnite Season 6 is finally here, bringing major updates including huge map changes, craftable weapons, Guardians Spires, and tameable wildlife to PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch in the v16.00 update.

It’s been three months since Fortnite players thought off the threat of Galactus and saved the island, with fans of the battle royale treated to a number of pop culture mashups in the following weeks, including Star Wars’ The Mandalorian and plenty of Marvel superheroes.

As always, the end of the season is set to shake things up once again, with Jonesy heading back to the Zero Point for a final showdown titled “Zero Crisis Finale” which will change Fortnite as we know it.

With plenty of changes and updates introduced to the title by Epic Games, here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite Season 6.

Fortnite Zero Crisis Finale event

The first thing players will do when Season 6 begins is take part in the special Zero Crisis Finale event. Unlike previous season-ending events, this one will be played solo rather than in a lobby full of other players.

The Zero Crisis Finale will wrap up the plotline of Season 5, which saw the Zero Point return after the legendary Galactus battle, while also setting up the island for the “Primal” theme of Fortnite Season 6.

Fortnite Season 6 map changes

No seasonal update would be complete without some major map changes, and Season 6 is no different. With the Zero Crisis Finale returning the island to a more “primal” state, new POIs have appeared across the map.

The most impressive of these new locations is The Spire, a huge tower which sits right in the middle of the map where the Zero Point used to sit. On top of that, Colossal Crops has appeared in the north of the island, while Salty Springs has been replaced by Primal Pond following the patch.

The Primal biome can be seen stretching out from the center of the island, with Epic claiming that the “wilderness has taken over.”

Guardian Spires

Guardian Spires are a new addition to Season 6, with Epic stating that they sit on the edge of the Primal biome. Be warned though, these Spires are “protected by mysterious forces,” so it may not be as easy as it sounds to visit and loot them.

There are six Guardian Spiress in total, each protecting an area of the island to ensure no harm comes to them. You can read the full list of Guardians below.

  • Guardian of the Sea
  • Guardian of the Bay
  • Guardian of the Fields
  • Guardian of the Woods
  • Guardian of the Lake
  • Guardian of the Mountains

Weapon Crafting

In Season 6, players won’t just be able to find weapons and items, but will actually be able to make guns themselves. Using loot from wildlife, and technology unaffected by the Pulse, players can craft their own weapons anywhere.

Epic state players will be able to create “high-damage primal weapons like the Primal Rifle, high-precision familiar weapons like the Revolver, and powerful bows like the Flame and Metal Bow.”

Taming Animals

Fortnite players won’t be the only creatures on the island in Season 6, with wildlife running wild across the primal wilderness. Players can hunt or tame wolves, chickens, boars to “not only live off the land but to gather materials for crafting.”

Dangerous wolves are already roaming the map, but be warned, the Season 6 patch notes claims “the most fearsome predators have yet to hatch…”

Bunker Chests

Some of the more cautious characters in Fortnite were prepared for the Zero Crisis Finale to destroy the island completely, so they created Bunker Chests to protect their most valuable loot.

These can be opened by players in Season 6, and house powerful weapons from Rare to Legendary rarity such as Rocket Launchers. As the season continues, new advancements will arrive “in the form of weapons and upgrades,” such as new Chonkers tires for vehicles to let them drive off-road.

Fortnite v16.00 Bug Fixes

As always, Epic Games are shipping some bug fixes for the game to help improve quality-of-life for players. These address issues across battle royale, Save the World, and Creative.

Here’s a list of what will be fixed in the Season 6 update:

  • Unable to edit color Styles for the Phantasmic Pulse Pickaxe in the Locker.
