Chevreuse in Genshin Impact

Wondering what the best artifacts, team composition, and weapons are for Chevreuse in Genshin Impact? Here’s how to make the best Chevreuse Genshin Impact build as well as how to play her.

Chevreuse is one of the two new playable characters released in Genshin Impact version 4.3. The other is the 5-star Geo unit, Navia. Unlike Navia, Chevreuse is primarily a support unit, which means both gearing her up and playing her is fairly simple

Navia made use of one of the rather forgotten Elemental Reaction of Crystalize, Chevreuse also makes use of another not-often-used reaction in Genshin Impact, Overload. She is currently one of the 4-star rate-ups in the limited banner of Raiden Shogun and Yoimiya.

All that said, here’s how to build Chevreuse in Genshin Impact.

How to play Chevreuse in Genshin Impact

Chevreuse in Genshin Impact is a support unit that can buff Electro and Pyro DPS. Outside of her buffing capabilities, she is also a healer.

There is one thing to keep in mind while playing Chevreuse. You need to have a party composition of Electro and Pyro units (at least one Pyro and Electro). This is because much of Chevreuse’s buffing capabilities are tied to the Overload Reaction (Overload happens when you attack an enemy affected by Pyro with Electro, or the opposite).

Her Elemental Skill is important, as she heals through it. If her hold Elemental Skill is performed after triggering an Overload Reaction, she’ll fire an “Overcharge” ball instead of regular rounds. This ball can buff Electro and Pyro characters’ ATK based on her HP, which makes triggering an Overload reaction and her Elemental Skill all the more important.

Having the said team composition of the Electro and Pyro unit helps with utilizing Chevreuse’s other passive talents as well.

So, the gist for playing Chevreuse in Genshin Impact is triggering an Overload reaction, then hitting her hold Elemental Skill, and then letting the main DPS do their thing.

Genshin Impact Chevreuse abilities explained

Normal Attack

Chevreuse’s Normal Attack is similar to that of other Polearm units in Genshin Impact. She only makes use of her musket in Elemental Skill; her Normal Attack is a standard four-hit combo.

Her Normal Attack isn’t an important part of her kit, so it can be safely ignored. Likewise, there is no need to upgrade it.

Elemental Skill

Chevreuse makes use of her musket in both Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst.

Elemental Skill is the most important part of Chevreuse’s kit in Genshin Impact. She has two variations for it: a hold and a regular one when you quick-tap. Both of them do party-wide healing.

The quick-fire one isn’t very useful, other than particle generation and healing.

The Hold variation has has two further variants: one when a party member triggers an Overload reaction, and one without the reaction.

When performing Chevreuse’s Elemental Skill after triggering an Overload reaction, she’ll fire an Overcharge ball. The Overcharge ball increases 1% ATK of the entire party for every 1,000 Max HP of Chevreuse (this is part of her passive talent, Vertical Force Coordination).

So it is obvious that Elemental Skill is very important, and firing an Overcharge ball is even more important. This also means your talent upgrade priority should be first on the Elemental Skill.

Elemental Burst

In her Elemental Burst, Chevreuse fires her musket and deals AoE Pyro DMG. After the initial burst, there will be multiple secondary explosive shells scattered around, which will blow up after some interval.

Her Elemental Burst damage is a bonus part of her kit. This means your second upgrade priority is Elemental Burst after Elemental Skill. Even without upgrading it, you’ll do just fine.

Chevreuse’s passive talents

Vanguard’s Coordinated Tactics

This passive decreases opponent Pyro and Electro RES by 40% for 6s after you trigger an Overload reaction. This is extremely valuable, and in Chevreuse standard rotation, you’ll be easily triggering an Overload Reaction.

Vertical Force Coordination

As we already discussed, this provides a 1% increased ATK for every 1,000 Max HP of Chevreuse for every Pyro and Electro character after she fires an Overcharge ball.

Chevreuse’s third exploration passive reduces the sprinting stamina consumption of party members by 20%.

Genshin Impact Chevreuse best weapons

All Polearms with HP% substat are a good choice for Chevreuse.

Black Tassel

While Black Tassel isn’t necessarily the best weapon for Chevreuse in Genshin Impact, it ranks top because it is extremely F2P friendly. You probably have dozens of them lying around.

Black Tassel isn’t top just on the merit of being easily accessible; it provides a substat of HP%, and given how important HP is for Chevreuse, it is easily one of the better weapons for her.

Favonius Lance

Favonius Lance doesn’t really provide any bonuses for Chevreuse herself, but it is good for her teams. The Favonius series of weapons is always a good option for support, they’re the go-to in almost all cases whenever you’re confused or don’t have any other highly-rated alternatives.

While the main substat of Favonius Lance, Energy Recharge, isn’t too much of a use for Chevreuse, it is still decent. The main part is the weapon’s passive, which generates 6 ER every 12 seconds whenever you CRIT. This helps reduce other party members’ ER requirements, and most characters in Genshin Impact are Elemental Burst reliants making Favonius Lance a solid choice.

Other weapons that are good for Chevreuse are Rightful Reward and Staff of Homa

Best Chevreuse artifacts in Genshin Impact

Before we get into the specifics of the best artifact for Chevreuse in Genshin Impact, there is one thing you need to keep in mind. HP is the most important stat for Chevreuse, and the rest doesn’t provide much benefit since she is best as a support. However, HP over 40,000 does not provide any benefit, as her passive, Vertical Force Coordination, is capped at a 40% ATK bonus.

Outside HP, only focus on CRIT Rate if you’re using Favonius Lance, but it is still a second priority. All that said, here are the best for Chevreuse in Genshin Impact

4pc Song of Days Past

  • 2-Pieces: Healing Bonus +15%.
  • 4-Pieces: Whenever someone who equips this artifact heals a party member, the amount of healing (including overflow healing) will be recorded by a counter for 6s. After six seconds have elapsed, whenever the active party member hits an opponent with any attack the DMG dealt will be increased by 8% of the total amount previously recorded.

Song of Days Past is the best-in-slot option for Chevreuse and is a new set introduced with version 4.3. The set is good for many healers in the game, so if you’ve already got a couple of them lined up that you want to build, this is an excellent option.

Even though 2pc bonus in itself isn’t very faltering for Chevreuse, the 2pc synergises with 4pc and makes it a good overall set.

4pc Noblesse Oblige

Noblesse Oblige is good on many support characters in Genshin Impact.
  • 2-piece: Elemental Burst DMG +20%
  • 4-piece: Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members’ ATK by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.

Noblesse Oblige is another good artifact for Chevreuse and that’s mainly down to its 4-piece bonus, which provides a 20% ATK bonus to other party members.

If you use it, you’ll have to perform her Elemental Burst. The set has been in the game for a long time, and it was one of the better artifacts during the initial years. So you may already have a good 4pc if you’ve been playing for a long time. Besides, Chevreuse isn’t very stats-hungry, just slap HP and you’ll be good.

Since Noblesse Oblige does not stack, only one from your party can use the set. So if you are already running Noblesse Oblige on another member of Chevreuse’s team, best to stick with Song of Days Past.

Other options include pairing any 2pc HP-providing sets if you’re struggling to hit 40,000 HP.

Best team and rotation for Chevreuse in Genshin Impact

The best team for Chevreuse in Genshin Impact is Chevreuse — Raiden Shogun — Bennet — Xiangling. This team primarily excels in single-target situations, and it can be a pain to use it against smaller enemies as an Overload reaction will knock enemies back.

Here are all of the best Chevreuse teams, as well as rotation for the best one.

  • Best team: Chevreuse — Raiden Shogun — Bennet — Xiangling
    • Rotation:
      • Raiden Shogun Elemental Skill
      • Bennet Elemental Burst
      • Xiangling Elemental Skill
      • Xiangling Elemental Burst
      • Chevreuse Elemental Burst (optional, unless you’re using Noblesse; you can also have Noblesse on Bennet and use Song of Days Past in this team for Chevreuse)
      • Chevreuse Elemental Skill
      • Raiden Shogun Elemental Burst

Other team:

  • Chevreuse — Yoimiya — Bennet — Fischl
  • Chevreuse — Yae Miko — Bennet — Xiangling
