Genshin Impact Neuvillette build guide: Best artifacts, weapons & teams
HoYoverseFirst introduced in v4.0 Archon Quest in Genshin Impact, the contemplative and highly revered judge of Fontaine, Neuvillette, is now playable starting v4.1. If you’re looking to strike your opponents down with the same authoritativeness as our Monsieur, here’s a build guide for Neuvillette.
Version 4.1 of Genshin Impact is live, and as with any version we have a new character joining the ever-increasing roster. This time it is the commanding and imposing, Monsieur Neuvillette, an alleged dragon as important to Fontaine as the Archon herself.
Version 4.2 is scheduled for early November, and the Hydro Archon, Furina, will be playable then. So, there is a good time left to build Neuvillette to the highest potential and farm all materials, before the spotlight turns to Furina.

How to play Neuvillette in Genshin Impact
Neuvillette in Genshin Impact is an HP-scaling on-field charge attack DPS. Most of his damage comes from charge attacks, so that’s what you’ll be focusing on.
His charge attack is like Comet Azur from Elden Ring (or Kamehameha from Dragon Ball), which deals ridiculous damage but needs time to charge.
You can, however, bring the charge time down and start power-washing enemies instantly by collecting Sourcewater Droplets. If there are three droplets, the four-second charge time will come down to 1s. Neuvillette also loses HP during his charge attack, but as you absorb any droplet, it’ll heal him, making it all the more important to generate Sourcewater Droplets.
Neuvillette himself generates enough droplets through his skills, so you don’t have to worry about finding other sources.
So, the gist for our highly-revered judge is to get Sourcewater Droplets and beam everyone near the range with a charged attack.
Neuvillette’s abilities in Genshin Impact explained
Normal Attack
Neuvillette’s Normal Attack isn’t important to his kit, and you’ll be barely using it, if ever.
The most important is his Charge Attack, as said earlier. But there are two variations of his Charge Attack, one that has 4s charge time and the other with 1s.
The 4s variant is when there aren’t enough Sourcewater Droplets for Neuvillette to absorb, and it scales with ATK, so it is not optimal. The 1s version, which scales with HP, is what you’ll be after and you’ll need three droplets to perform it.
Because Charge Attack comes under Normal Attack, your talent upgrade priority for Neuvillette should be first on Normal Attack.
Elemental Skill – O Tears, I Shall Repay
A Raging Waterfall that’ll deal AoE Hydro Damage upon use, also generating three Sourcewater Droplets.
The only important part of his skill is the Sourcewater Droplets generation. The rest of his Elemental Skills do not contribute any significant damage.
Elemental Burst – O Tides, I Have Returned
Deals AoE Hydro DMG based on Neuvillette’s Max HP, also generating six Sourcewater Droplets.
Again, while the damage his burst does is a bonus, the most important part remains the Sourcewater Droplets generation. Given that it generates six, ideally you’d need your burst always ready off cooldown. So, Energy Recharge is also an important stat to look at in Artifacts.
Best weapons for Neuvillette in Genshin Impact
Tome of Eternal Flow
Tome is the 5-star signature weapon of Neuvillette and also his best in slot. It has a whopping 88.2% Crit DMG substats, alongside HP and Energy Recharge in passive—all of which are useful.
It largely remains the best weapon option. It is a limited banner weapon, and you’ll be able to get it whenever Neuvillette is in the featured banner.
Sacrificial Jade
Sacrificial Jade is the second-best in slot weapon for Neuvillette. That’s mainly down to its main sub-stats of Crit Rate and passive which gives 32% HP when off-field for more than 5 seconds. Both of which are desirable on Neuvillette.
The passive is restrictive, as the passive HP bonus lasts only for 10s. You can easily be off-field for 5 seconds during his standard rotation to activate it, but his on-field duration can easily extend to 10 seconds. Past 10s, the weapon doesn’t do all that well compared to other options.
It is a 4-star weapon, not in any Gacha pool, and is available only through the Battle Pass. But it does better than other weapons, bar the Tome, of course. An R5 Sacrificial Jade is only a cut below Tome and does get the closest to it in terms of damage potential.
Prototype Amber
Prototype Amber is the best F2P option for Neuvillette, it has HP sub-stats and also provides a bit of Energy Recharge through its passive.
Prototype Amber is a craftable weapon, so you don’t have to worry about running out of Primogems. Unlike Jade, it doesn’t have any restrictions so it is easier to maintain.
Best artifacts for Neuvillette in Genshin Impact
Before delving into each artifact for Neuvillette in Genshin Impact, there are some requirements you’ll have to maintain, ideally, across the board.
- Always use HP% Sands, Hydro DMG Goblet, and Crit Circlet (whichever is less, DMG or Rate).
- Energy Recharge should be anywhere around 115% depending on the team, while using above mentioned weapons. For other weapons, target 130 – 160%.
- Preferred rolls will be HP and Crit.
Following are Neuvillette’s best artifacts:
4pc Marechaussee Hunter
- 2-Piece: Increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 15%.
- 4-Piece: When current HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5s. Max 3 stacks.
Marechaussee Hunter is Neuvillette’s best artifact set because every bit of its stats is helpful for him. The 2pc bonus grants 15% Charged Attack DMG, and since that’s the attack he’ll do the most it makes for the best 2pc bonus. Meanwhile, the 4pc increases CRIT Rate whenever your HP fluctuates; every time you use Charge Attack on Neuvillette, he decreases HP and heals in case there are droplets, so both of the buff synergies well.
No other artifact comes closer to 4pc Marechaussee Hunter, so it is recommended you farm the set if you want the best build for Neuvillette.
4pc Heart of Depth
- 2-Piece: Increases Hydro DMG by 15%.
- 4-Piece: Increases Normal and Charged Attack Damage of the user by 30% after using Elemental Skill
All stats are helpful for Neuvillette but not as impactful as Marechaussee Hunter. The domain for Heart of Depth, though, has been in the game for a long time, and the other reward, Blizzard Slayer, is the most desired set on Cryo characters. So, if you’ve ever farmed the domain and may have a good 4pc lying, might as well spare yourself the hassle to farm a new set. Besides, even with 4 pieces of Heart of Depth, a good Neuvillette will 36-star Spiral Abyss.
Other combinations are paring 2pc Marechaussee Hunter with other 2pc Hydro DMG bonus-providing artifacts. Wanderer’s Troupe, Nymph’s Dream, and Retracing Bolide are also good picks, especially if you can pair them with Marechaussee Hunter.

- Alternatives: Yae Miko for Fischl and Xingqiu for Zhongli.
Ideally, you will have Zhongli (or other shielders) on your team because of how easily Neuvillette can get knocked over by enemies during his charge attack. But if you’ve no skills issues in that regard, you can add an offensive support or sub-DPS.
