Helldivers 2 introduces players to a constant galactic battle against monstrous alien life forms. However, skill isn’t everything when fighting these creatures, and users will need to get the best equipment to improve their chances of survival.
While the starting armor comes equipped with the basic “Extra padding” passive skill, players can unlock different sets with greater stats and combat buffs. Along with unlocked weapons and Stratagems, the right armor will exponentially improve your survivability in each fight.

Helldivers 2 armor: How to unlock
While you’ll have a standard armor set equipped with the “Extra Padding” skill in your first missions of Helldivers 2, you can unlock new sets as you level up and accumulate Warbond medals. You’ll earn these medals after completing missions, and unlocking their optional objectives.
Some armor sets are going only going to be available for Super Credits, Helldivers 2 premium currency.

Helldivers 2: All armor passives explained
Most armor sets in Helldivers 2 have special buffs that help players improve their survivability on the battlefield. From Extra-Padding to Servo-Assisted, here are all of the Passive skills in Helldivers 2:
- Democracy Protects: Reduces 50% of the chance of getting killed with lethal damage. Prevents all damage from bleeding if chest hemorrhages.
- Engineering Kit: Reduces recoil when crouching or prone by 30%. Increases initial inventory and holding capacity of grenades by +2.
- Extra padding: You’ll get this passive with all the game’s generic armor sets. It gives more Armor Rating, which improves early-game survivability.
- Fortified: Reduces recoil when crouching or prone by 30%. Provides 50% resistance to explosive damage.
- Med Kit: Increases initial inventory and holding capacity of Stims by +2. Increases Stim effect duration by 2.0s.
- Servo-Assisted: Increases throwing range by 30%. Provides +50% limb health.
- Scout: Markers placed on the map will generate radar scans every 2.0s. Reduces the range at which enemies can detect the wearer by 30%.
