Helldivers 2 players praise game’s “non-predatory” microtransactions
Arrowhead Game StudiosHelldivers 2, like most other live-service games, features microtransactions in the form of cosmetic skins. But unlike other titles, players are actually praising the purchasable content in Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2 is a new co-op-focused, third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Studios. The game is a sequel to 2015’s Helldivers, and it improves on the original in almost every aspect. The core premise remains the same, as players are tasked with making helldives into alien planets and dealing with the local wildlife.
Among the major changes introduced by the sequel is a shift to a third-person gameplay perspective, alongside new mission objectives, gadgets, and more.
Despite initial struggles with online matchmaking and PC performance, Helldivers 2 seems to have gotten off to a strong start. Players jumping into the game have highlighted just how fun the experience is, especially if you squad up with your friends.
The game’s cinematic presentation and obvious Starship Troopers’ influence seem to have impressed players. There has also been praise for its satisfying gunplay among other things.
Another aspect of Helldivers 2 that players seem to like are its microtransactions. A discussion around the topic emerged following a Reddit post by user ‘RDJMA.’ The user credited the game’s microtransactions saying, “This game’s Microtransactions are not egregious or predatory in the slightest.”
They went on to say, “I’ve put in 8 hours into this game and I already have 90 super credits that I earned through in-game missions BTW this is the price for an armor piece in the Superstore.”
They further added, “In 20 hours I’ll probably be able to buy anything I’d want within the armor shop, and the armors there currently are not as good as the items I could get within the free Warbond! They’re clearly just for visual flair.”
Cosmetics skins in Helldivers 2 are reasonably priced, and most can easily be earned by simply playing the game.
You can even earn enough currency to buy the premium battle pass, as stated by another user, “You get 750 Super Credits in the free battlepass/warbond and collect 10 super credits almost every mission. The premium warbond costs 1000 Credits. It’s super feasible and will leave you enough credits to buy a cool helmet or cape if you’d like.”
Many other similar replies praised the pricing of microtransactions. So far, players appear to find the game worth their time and effort.
