Genshin Impact didn’t have a taxing PC requirement at launch, as it was fairly sized, featuring only two major regions. But it has only grown ever since and now has a continental-size map with many more areas to explore

All of it does, of course, significantly increase storage requirements. So, if you’re wondering about Genshin Impact’s required storage space, here’s all you need to know.

Genshin Impact version 4.8 file size on PC

As of August 2024, Genshin Impact version 4.8 requires 150 GB of storage space on PC. The number can be slightly different depending on the audio packs you’ve downloaded and the quests you’ve completed. The overall size of the game can easily exceed 120 GB.

Do note that the Epic Games Store states a minimum disk space requirement of 100 GB and a recommended storage of 150 GB as of August 2024.

Genshin Impact storage requirements on mobile (Android & iOS)

Version 4.8 can take more than 35 GB of space on Android and iOS devices. Initially, the storage required to run the game smoothly on mobile devices used to be 10 GB, and it has tripled already.

After adding regions like Inazuma, Fontaine, and Natlan, among others, Genshin Impact’s size grew considerably. While the mobile version is still optimized for smaller storage units, it requires more free space than most games.

How to reduce Genshin Impact size

You can effectively reduce Genshin Impact’s size on PC and mobile by deleting unused audio packs or completed quests resources.

How to delete unused voice-over packs

  1. Launch Genshin Impact and open the Paimon Menu.
  2. Go to in-game Settings > Language > Manage Voice-Over Language
  3. The menu will display the current audio packs that you’ve downloaded.
  4. Keep one voice-over pack that you use and uninstall the rest.

With this method, you can significantly reduce the game’s overall size, as every pack takes up to 8-9 GB of space.

Genshin Impact’s size keeps changing with each update.

Delete past quest resources

  1. Launch Genshin Impact and open the Paimon Menu.
  2. Go to in-game Settings > Resources
  3. Press the Quest Resource Management button.
  4. If available, press Uninstall to remove resources from already completed quests.

Other methods, like clearing the cache on mobile, do work, but the size reduction will be minimal. The developers might need to come up with better solutions, or a large chunk of the player base will be compelled to uninstall Genshin Impact sooner or later.
