How to block in Tekken 8

Here’s everything you need to know about blocking in Tekken 8 so that you can keep a tight defense and prevent a loss.

Tekken 8 isn’t the easiest of games to master, as it can take a long time to pick a character from the large roster, let alone learn all their moves.

That said, you can enjoy the Story mode, Arcade Quest, Online, or even the Practice mode to get used to the game’s mechanics. One of the best ways to get better at Tekken is to improve your defense, but the game’s new Heat system focuses so much on aggression, it’s easy to go into autopilot and forget to defend.

That said, if you’re new to Tekken and are wondering how to block, here’s everything you need to know.

How to block in Tekken 8

To block your opponent’s attacks in Tekken 8, all you need to do is hold back. This will block all incoming high and mid attacks, but to block the low ones you’ll need to hold down.

While blocking low, you can avoid high moves too, which is known as crushing, but you will be susceptible to mid hits, which can be devastating and lead to high damage combos.

How to low parry in Tekken 8

You can also parry in Tekken 8. All characters can parry low moves by pressing down-forward at the same time as the opponent goes for a low. Timing is everything with a low parry, as there’s a short window in which you can pull it off, so only throw it out there if you’re confident a low is coming.

Some characters in the roster also have unique parry moves, such as Jin, Leroy, and Asuka. However, their parry moves are unique to their moveset and will parry different moves of the opponent, such as kicks, punches, and even knees only.
