Minecraft villager and two different types of villages

Finding and exploring villages is essential for progression in Minecraft because they offer a wide range of resources. If you cannot find a village in your Overworld, here’s a guide to finding villages in Minecraft with and without cheats.

Finding a village in Minecraft can significantly boost a player’s progress. You can collect crops from the farms, trade rare resources with villagers, loot chests for valuable items, and most importantly, get a bed.

Villages generally have many structures where the residents live. Moreover, there are cats, Iron Golems, and wandering traders with their llamas.

There are five different types of villages in Minecraft, and here’s how to find them easily.

Where do villages spawn in Minecraft?

There are five biomes in Minecraft where you can find villages:

  • Desert
  • Plains
  • Savanna
  • Snowy
  • Taiga

Having said that, you cannot get to a village with maps. Instead, you’ll have to visit one of the five biomes mentioned above and roam around to find civilization.

Taiga biomes are generally the worst for locating a village because the dense forest affects your ability to see far-off places. On the flip side, you might be able to spot a village more comfortably in plains and desert biomes as they have flat terrain.

Open the Game Menu and then go to Options > Video Settings > Render Distance and set it to the highest possible number your device supports. This will increase the range of your in-game vision and will help with finding a village.

Lastly, try going to higher altitudes and look for villages from there. They often generate near water sources in the game.

Create a new world with the same seed

Every Minecraft world has a unique seed and you can use it to find a village. Follow these steps to do so:

  1. Pause Minecraft and go to Settings.
  2. Go to World > Game > Seed.
  3. Note down the unique Seed number and quit the game.
  4. Restart Minecraft and create a new world.
  5. Before finalizing, just turn this world’s game mode to Creative. This will turn off achievements but allow you to literally fly in the air. Also, this is a new world so achievements won’t matter.
  6. Find Seed in the new world’s settings and enter the Seed of your original world.
  7. Create this world.
  8. Increase the Render Distance and fly up.

In this new world, you’ll be able to find a village easily unless you’re looking for it in the wrong biome. You can also disable clouds as they can hinder your view at times.

Upon finding a village, just note down its coordinates and get back to your original survival world. Visit the coordinates and you’ll find the village.
