Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn doesn’t have demanding system requirements but you can still run into issues like low FPS and stuttering if you aren’t using optimized settings.

It’s a Soulslite game, so it’s worth prioritizing performance and more frames before anything else as stutters can be distracting during combat, especially in fast-paced scenarios. So to achieve the best performance possible, here’s how to fix low FPS and stuttering problems and get the game running smoothly.

Lower your settings

The best way to increase performance is by lowering your in-game graphics settings. Simply use the Medium preset (if you generally use high or above) and turn off motion blur to instantly receive an FPS boost. Usually, motion blur does not affect performance, but I was able to get a few more frames by disabling it.

You might want to enjoy the graphics in the highest preset available but that is likely why your game is stuttering. For example, if your PC barely touches the recommended PC requirements, you will not get good performance if you use max in-game settings.

Update your graphics drivers

Most brand-new titles like Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn run better with the latest drivers so check your GPU driver version to make sure you’re using the latest one.

Here’s how to update Nvidia graphics drivers on your PC:

  1. Download GeForce Experience through Nvidia.com.
  2. Open GeForce Experience.
  3. Select the ‘Drivers’ tab.
  4. Click ‘check for updates’ in the upper right corner.
  5. If an update is available, follow the steps.

Here’s how to update AMD graphics drivers on your PC:

  1. Right-click on your desktop.
  2. Select AMD Radeon Settings.
  3. Click on the Home icon.
  4. Click ‘New Updates’ on the bottom left.
  5. Select ‘check for update.’
  6. If an update is available, follow the steps.

Use DirectX 11

Many players have suffered problems using DirectX Version 12 as their Graphics API, so one of the best ways to remove stutters is to shift back to DX11. You can simply change the API from the Graphics settings from Flintlock’s main menu.

Close background apps & overlays

Background apps and overlays could be affecting Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn’s performance, so if you are using any CPU-intensive software like OBS or GeForce Experience, make sure to close them as these might be limiting your performance.

However, if you like recording your playthroughs on these apps, keep in mind that you are bound to see a performance drop. So if you are a streamer or simply like to record your gameplay, there’s no running from occasional stutters or performance drops.
