How to fix Once Human not launching

Some players have been experiencing issues with Once Human not launching on PC, which can be frustrating when you aren’t sure what to do about it. There are some fixes to try to amend this issue. 

It’s important to make sure that your PC and game are both updated, as those could cause issues with launching. Here’s how to update everything you need, and a few more fixes to try if that wasn’t the issue.

Once Human not launching on PC fixes

  • Update your graphics drivers
  • Check for Windows updates
  • Verify game files
  • Disable background applications
  • Check DirectX installation
  • Reinstall the game

The first thing to do when Once Human is not launching is to check if your graphics drivers and Windows are up to date. To check for Windows updates, simply type ‘Check for updates’ in the search bar on your PC.

If everything is up to date, the next step is to verify your game files and close unnecessary background applications. Simply enter the Task Manager and close any applications you don’t need open while you’re playing to disable them. 

How to verify game files

You can verify game files on Steam by right-clicking on the game and selecting ‘Properties’ in the dropdown menu. 

Once in the menu, look for ‘Installed Files’ on the right-hand side and click it. You should see an option to Verify Game Files in this menu.

How to change launch options

You can change the launch options of your game by right-clicking on it in Steam and selecting ‘Properties’ in the dropdown menu. Then follow these steps: 

  1. Navigate to general on the right side of the menu. 
  2. Find the Launch Options bar here. 
  3. Type ‘-d3d11 -fullscreen in the bar.
  4. Press enter.

How to update graphics drivers

NVIDIA graphics drivers

  1. Download GeForce Experience and open the app.
  2. Select the ‘Drivers’ tab.
  3. Click ‘check for updates.’
  4. If an update is available, follow the steps to install it.

AMD graphics drivers

  1. Right-click on your desktop.
  2. Select AMD Radeon Settings.
  3. Click on the Home icon.
  4. Click on ‘New Updates.’
  5. Select ‘check for update.’
  6. If an update is available, follow the steps to install it.

If none of these options work, then your last step is to reinstall the game completely. This is a bit of a last resort, but it should work nonetheless. Once you’re in the game again, remember to check where to find Sproutlets, Gold, and Aluminum to upgrade your gear.
