Greatsword location in Elden Ring
You can find the Greatsword in the Dagonbarrow region of Caelid in Elden Ring, located northwest of the Calem Ruins Site of Grace, in a carriage guarded by some giant dogs.
You can get to this area quite early in the game as well. However, keep in mind that there are some really strong enemies all around here and some of them can even one-shot you if you are not careful enough. We recommend you simply grab the weapon and run away if you are doing this early.

Best builds for Greatsword in Elden Ring
While focusing on Strength for your stats in Elden Ring is the best way to increase damage, you can also change the affinity to include certain status effects in the weapon. However, we do not recommend decreasing your overall damage for the sake of some small status buff.
Bleed and Occult infusions can be the best you can go for with this weapon in Elden Ring, as the basic Standard affinity works quite decent as well. To top it all off, make sure to use suitable Talismans to avoid unnecessary complications during combat.
Here are the best Talismans to use with the Greatsword in Elden Ring:
- Great-Jar’s Arsenal – Raises Equip Load massively
- Arsenal Charm+1 – Raises Equip Load significantly
- Radagons Soreseal – Iraises Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity by 5 each, but increases damage taken by 15%
- Axe Talisman – Increases the damage of charged attacks
