Since Once Human is a free-to-play open-world MMORPG, you’ll likely come across other players while you’re playing You can interact with other players through the game’c chat system, but if you want to hide chat, there are a few ways to do it.

Many players would want to hide chat for a variety of reasons like making your stream a bit cleaner or not having the distraction. So, here’s how you can hide chat, and if you’re so inclined, how to change the color of your text.

How to disable text chat in Once Human

  1. Press F1 to bring up the Contacts menu
  2. Navigate to the messages tab in settings.
  3. Adjust your channel settings

There are a list channels in Once Human that each have different messages attached to them. Here’s a quick rundown of what each channel is:

  • System channel: Shows system messages and notifications.
  • Regional channel: Displays messages from other players in your region.
  • World channel: Broadcasts messages to all players in the game world.
  • Team channel: Communicate with your team members.
  • Hive channel: Communicate with players in your Hive.
  • Warband channel: Communicate with players in your Warband.

If you want to completely disable all in-game chat, just switch all these channels off. Otherwise, you can tailor what you’d like to see in your chat according to these channel settings.

How to change text color

If you’re fine with the default chat settings in Once Human but want to customize it a little more, you can change your text color by typing # and the relevant color code in front of your text.

For example, if you type “#G Hi,” your ‘Hi’ will be green in the chat. Here are all the colors and their codes:

  • Green: #G
  • Red: #R
  • White: #W
  • Blue: #B
  • Black: #K

These are all the colors you can already find in-game, but if you want to get a little more creative, you can use #c followed by a color hex code from any color of your choice. You can find the codes you’re looking for from a site like Color Hex Codes

Once you have your color code, type in “#c6a20cf” for example, and you’ll get a royal purple color for your text.

Once Human is currently only on PC, but it may be coming to console soon. It’s unclear if this method will be available on those platforms, but we’ll keep you updated. For now, the game does have codes available for freebies, and you should know where to find Gold and Aluminum when you need it.
