How to play Payday 3 open beta: Dates, platforms, content, more

Starbreeze Studio’s co-op heist shooter, Payday 3, is ready to be loaded for another round of beta ahead of its September 21 release. It has some relaxed restrictions for access compared to previous tests, so here’s all we know about Payday 3’s open beta, including dates, platform, and more. 

Just a month past Payday 3‘s previous closed technical test, Starbreeze Studio is hosting yet another beta. It’ll let you rehearse a bank robbery before you can get a little more meaner in all the eight heists available at launch.

While the previous beta was restrictive in terms of access, the upcoming one is a bit lenient, so here’s all we know about the upcoming Payday 3 open beta.

Payday 3 open beta start & end dates

The open beta for Payday 3 starts on September 8 and will run until September 11, 2023.

Like the closed beta, the open beta is only available in Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

How to play Payday 3 open beta

To play Payday 3’s open beta, PC players will have to visit Steam while Xbox users will need to use Xbox Insider. Here’s how:

1. Steam:
   1. Go to Payday 3’s store listing.
   2. Scroll down.
   3. Just below all the “Add to Cart” buttons, there should be a new “Request Access” button.
   4. Click it and you’re all set. 
2. Xbox Insider Hub:
   1. Navigate to previews.
   2. Search for Payday 3, and you should see an option to play.

You can download the Xbox Insider Hub app, or simply search “Xbox Insider Hub” in the store, to be part of the program. The beta is available for all players and you won’t need any invitation for access.

Payday 3 open beta content

The Payday 3 open beta will feature only one playable heist, “No Rest for the Wicked.” All the original crew—Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf—are available and your Infamy will be capped at level 22. It is the same as the previous closed technical test.
