How to refund a game on Steam
Steam is one of the biggest video game digital distribution services in the world and allows you to purchase an array of outstanding titles. If you’re not satisfied with a purchase, this guide on how to refund a game on Steam will certainly help you.
Steam offers over 50,000 games including Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Hogwarts Legacy, FIFA, and many more. Over the years, millions of gamers have trusted the video game digital distribution service and despite the competition from other distributors, it has maintained prominence in the industry.
Like any other distributor, Steam cannot guarantee that you’ll like every game you purchase. From game-breaking bugs to bad gameplay mechanics, there are many reasons that can hamper a gamer’s excitement.
If you’re not pleased with a game you just bought, here’s a guide on how to refund a game on Steam.
Requirements to refund a game on Steam
Steam issues a refund for a game only if you’ve requested it within 14 days of purchase and haven’t played it for more than two hours. If you do not meet these requirements, you can still submit a request and the moderators might approve it.
Steps to refund a game on Steam
Follow these simple steps to refund a game on Steam:
- Go to Steam Help and log in with your Steam Account.
- Once logged in, click on A Purchase. A list of your latest purchases will appear and you can select the game you want to refund. Do note that the games that do not appear on this list are ineligible for a refund.
- Select the appropriate reason for the refund.
- Click on I’d like to request a refund.
- Fill out the refund request form and choose to get the refund in Steam Wallet or the original payment method.
- You’ll receive a confirmation mail regarding the request submission if you’ve followed the steps above correctly.
After you’ve received a confirmation mail, it’s more or less a waiting game. If you’ve sent the refund request form within the refund window and didn’t play the game for more than two hours, the refund should arrive in a few days.
