The touch pass mechanic from the Madden NFL games is alive and well in College Football 25. The latest title in the NCAA Football franchise features three different passing types, with the touch pass being arguably the most difficult to master.

Whether you’re a new player looking to test out the skill or a veteran in need of a refresher, here’s how to throw a touch pass in College Football 25.

College Football 25 touch pass controls explained

To throw a touch pass in College Football 25, you’ll need to press the button displayed on top of the receiver for around half a second. If done right, the QB will throw a pass that has more loft than a bullet pass but more speed than a lob. It’ll take a bit of practice to get a feel for the timing so remember not to hold onto the button for too long.

The blue bar should land near the middle of the meter.

If you’re struggling to get it right, we recommend switching your Passing Type to Revamped Passing. This setting comes with an NBA 2K-like shot meter that allows you to measure your passes. It also provides visual feedback so you can see exactly how much power is going into the throw. To execute a touch pass, you’ll want the blue bar to land right around the middle of the meter.

To master touch passes, spend some time in Open Practice. It’s definitely worth learning the mechanic since you’ll be able to pull off passes that are lofty enough to fly over defenders in coverage zones while arching in the general direction of receivers.

How to change Passing Type

  1. Go into settings from the main menu
  2. Navigate to the ‘Game Options’ tab
  3. Scroll down to get to the ‘Passing Mechanics’ section
  4. Change the ‘Passing Type’ option to your preferred setting

As mentioned earlier, we recommend switching to Revamped Passing to get a solid grasp of the timing.
